1.1 Overview
1.1.1 Background
In the old system, keeping record of parcels in a courier service company and their
delivery information is carried out manually. A lot of files are opened for daily record of
parcels received or delivered. This litters the office with much paper documents. Most often
records are misplaced and when a client comes to collect his parcel, he\she spend some hours
waiting for confirmation of the parcel. Hence delay is bound to occur while delivering parcel
to customers. These traditional services did not provide the tracking system where you track
the bookings and see their delivery reports.
1.1.2 Objectives
Main objective or goal of this project is to developed a web-based courier system.
Internet is the technology that makes everything around the world accessible from a single
place so this Courier Service Management system will replace the traditional and manual
courier service system. This Courier services provides various courier related services for the
customers. Bangladesh has lots rural areas where travelling is a problem this service system
will help them to receive their parcels.
The users of this system:
1. Admin
2. Merchant
3. Delivery Man
4. Hub
The operations this system will provide are listed below down:
1.1.2.1 Admin Panel:
Full access for all kinds of actions and user types. (Add, Edit, Delete)
Action permissions for every kind of bookings made by all types of merchants.
Can change status for bookings, payments.
Can assign parcels to DM, Hub.
Can add, update, delete charges and areas.
Can add all types of users.
Can print invoices, memo, label.
Detailed reports for earnings, users, bookings, amount, users.
1.1.2.2 Merchant panel:
Can book new parcels.
Can see details about their booked parcels.
Can track their bookings.
Can see their earning and delivery reports.
1.1.2.3 DM Panel:
Can see which parcels are assigned to them.
Can update a status for parcels assigned to them.
1.1.2.4 Hub Panel:
Can see details about parcels assigned to their hubs.
Can assign parcels to delivery mans for a parcel in their area.
Can update status for parcels assigned to them.
1.1.3 Scope
This modern world is totally connected with internet service which provide us all the
facilities including online courier service system. Courier Management System will provide us a
lot facilities and they are listed below:
1. Easy Parcel Bookings.
2. In this Covid period they need not to gather or went on a spot to deliver their parcels.
3. The order will be picked from their home so their times will be saved and it is basically
a time-consuming service system.
4. There is no time period or limitation of services it is provided 24/7.
5. Cost of services are more affordable.
6. The professionals are reliable that means your parcel is safe and secure and they will
take care of it.
1.1.4 Assumptions and Constraints
In this assumption section we assumed that in this modern world we are all well
capable of using the web site and receive the services which we are providing. Basically,
when we build any project, we considered our main customers as well educated or well known
about the computers but as a real fact in our country most of the people have the internet but
they are not well known about this online web services because most of them live in a rural
area or small town.
Another problem is the website culture and the infrastructure of this websites. All these
websites are designed in English pattern that means main and only language is English which
hampered a lot. Because in our country this English word is not that comfortable language
according to all general.
Another issue is the traditional system which they believe and found the reliability but in the
modern sites they did not find the trust yet as compare to the old systems for that lots of users
hesitate of using these services.
1.1.5 Dependencies and Risks
Courier Management System is an online service sections where all the users have to
be on the web sites otherwise, they cannot have the services or facilities which we determined
to provide them. For this kind of services security is an issue if we anyhow fall or crashed all
the data of the customers will be gone and they are not secured anymore. Their data security
will be the main concern as well as the main risks.

In this pandemic situation and this digitalized modern world is all set to have a service
like Courier management system which is totally justify this time. These services will reduce
your daily hustle and mental disturbances. This service will be a great pleasure to the
merchants because of easy bookings, fast delivery and the visualized report of his parcels.
Merchants can access the website any time on a day it is opened 24/7 with services. Customer
satisfaction is the main concern that is why Courier Management System will be a great
service system to the merchants.
