Shape of the Plot
Vastu For House
When you see a road on the north side from your entrance is a North Facing House. It
has to be perpendicular to your entrance. The North Facing Plot will be directly
connected to the Children in the house. Though it is very good for any type of
constructions, due care is required while deciding the structural design as the magnetic
forces of the earth are generated from the North Pole. There are few Specialties of a
North Facing House. North is a Water element. Water resembles Wealth. So it creates
wealthy and healthy vibrations and ensures prosperity of the people living in these north
facing plots and grounds.
Auspicious/Inauspicious Shapes:-
The basic idea behind the selection of plot is the shape and angle .Following points
should be kept in mind for the shape.
● The shape should be such that there must be only four corners in a Plot.
● The corners should have the angle of 90 degrees.
● The ratio of Length : Breadth in a rectangular Plot should not exceed 1:2
● The direction of East West should be 90 degrees. Slight deviation of 10-15
degrees is acceptable

● Though Plots with 90 degrees are best. But plot with extension in certain
direction has proven good results.
● Plot on “T” Junction should be avoided.
● Plots at dead end should be avoided.

L-Shaped or Cut or Extended Plots
L-Shaped or cut or extended plots are not good at all as extension in one side leads to
cut in the other side. So, good results are always coupled with some bad results also. L
shaped Plots will always have one side extended with one side cut.
1. East of Southeast Cut or Extended- It
leads to Court Cases, Women’s health issues.
2. South of Southeast
is Cut– It leads to Accident, Economic losses, Women health disorders

Direction of Road to any Plot is very important. It cannot be ignored at all. So following
are the cases with its results:-
1. Three side Roads of the Plot:- If there is Road on the three sides of the
Plot then:-
● Road on North, West and South is Normal provided entry is not made from
South side.
● Road on North, West and East is good.
● Road on North, South and East is also good if entry is from North or East.
● Road on South, East and West is Normal.
2. Four sides Road of a Plot are rarely found but it is the best and has very
auspicious results.
3. Two side Road of a Plot:-
● Roads on North and East are best.
● Roads on North and West are Normal.
● Roads on North and South are Normal if the Entry is from North.
● Roads on East and South are Normal if the Entry is from East.
● Roads on East and West are Normal.
● Roads on South and West are not good.
4. One side Road :-

Surroundings of the Plot are also important while purchasing the Plot:-
a. Plot, on which lots of Trees and Plants are there, is good. But Plot having Bamboo
Trees should be acquired with great care.
b. If river or canal is on the East side of the Plot and is flowing from South to East then it
is good Plot.
c. If the river or canal is on Northern side of the Plot and is flowing from West to East,
then it is good.
d. River or canal on South or West of the plot is not good.
e. Hill, Hillocks, High land, Heavy objects on the South, West & South-West of the Plot is
good whereas on East, North and North-East is bad.
f. Plot adjacent to or near to any graveyard, cemetery, temple, mosque, tomb etc. is not
good at all.
g. Many other factors are also there which cannot be mentioned there. So, if you are
planning to buy a Plot, its better to first consult a Vastu Expert. However, above
mentioned points are enough to protect you from buying a complete negative Plot.
Direction of the plot
The most important factor before choosing a land is its direction. While you plan to purchase a
plot, prefer North-facing direction as it is considered highly auspicious. East and west facing
plots can also be considered, however, south facing land should be completely avoided.
In addition to direction, type of the soil is also important. Rashmi Jain, Vastu Consultant,
Gurgaon avers, “Usually, land covered with lush greenery or agriculturally fertile lands are
considered good for habitation, assuring growth and success. Corner plots are perfect for home
construction as they bring happiness and prosperity. Plots bordered by roads from all directions
are considered excellent for commercial constructions but not for residential purpose.”
Shape and size of the plot
Ideal shapes for residential plot are square or rectangular which are narrower at the entrance
and wider at its rear. However, its opposite is a big “No”. Round, oval, triangular and L-shaped
plots should be avoided. It is imperative to check the corners of the land as well, a plot with a
cut in the north-east corner is ominous as it is like a headless body, informs Jain.

Uniformity of the plot
A flat land should be preferred for residential construction. However, if there are slants then
plots with north-east or south-west slopes should be considered as they are extremely
propitious.
Westward slopes should be avoided as they lead to health problems and incongruity among
family members. One should also watch out for a valley around the plot or depression on the
land as they are believed to be inauspicious. Besides, avoid purchasing the plot that is situated
between two large plots as it symbolises poverty.
Location of the plot
Avoid buying residential plots near cemetery or hospitals as they are storehouses of negative
energies and infections. Any obstruction like bridge, electric pole, hill or a building in the north
and east side should be avoided, as it blocks sunlight, however, anything in the west and south
can be compromised as it impedes entry of negative energies.
Similarly, water body located on the southwest side of the plot should be avoided as it implies
misery. Whereas if the plot has a lake or river nearby that flows in the north-east direction, then
it is a good sign and the land can be purchased for residential development.
