Social media has impacted Filipino culture in several ways. It has decreased respect for elders as youth often ignore elders while on their phones. Filipinos were once very social and open to strangers, but now people are more guarded online. Social media also makes transportation easier by allowing people to book rides and find directions more conveniently and safely. Economically, social media benefits both buyers and sellers by enabling efficient shopping and advertising of goods and services. In education, the use of technology and social media helps students develop computer skills that will serve them well in many aspects of life.
