A Prayer Format
One thing most religions have in common is the practice of prayer. On the other
hand, a point of difference between many religions is who or what to pray to.

Personal interpretation and practice is often even more diverse. Many pray simply
to God, many others to Jesus Christ, others to Mohammed. Some to Moses, Noah, the
Apostles, or others of biblical fame. Some to Buddha, Krishna or other Eastern
Gods, demi-gods, or Avatars. Some pray to various Angels, Ark-Angels, Saints,
guides, guardians and Ascended Masters. Some pray to the elements, some to aliens,
some to their unconscious minds, some to the Universe, some to the High Selves,
some to their ancestors. It would be impossible for me to make a comprehensive and
detailed list that would not have extensive omissions. My apologies if you have
another entity that I didn't mention.

Personally, I believe that some kind(s) of God and Higher Power exists. I've had
prayerful experiences with multiple divine entities.

Similar to the list above there are a multitude of prayer practices.

I have a cosmology and theology that is more inclusive than exclusive. I don't
believe it's about THE right divine entity to pray to. To me, it's rather about
finding a divine entity or a set of entities ( a popular set is the Holy Trinity of
Father (God), Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit) that you 1) Have a successful
prayer experience with 2) Feel good about.

Most who closely follow a Christian religion will harshly object to praying to
Buddha, or Krishna, and so forth. That is all fine, and well and good. The point of
this little article is NOT to convert anyone to anything.

I will assume for the purpose of this article that you have one or more divine
entities in mind that you feel good about praying to.

Some are very happy with their current prayer practice(s). If so, you are probably
not reading this. If you happen to be reading, I honor your practice.

All of the disclaimers and what not aside, I have noticed that many are either
lacking a prayer practice or are dissatisfied with their prayer practice. In that
case I will offer here a flexible format for prayer.

Some of the issues that people commonly have when attempting any sort of
interactive prayer, or relational prayer are:

1) Not feeling heard or acknowledged.

2) Lacking certainty that anything happened.

3) Praying only for a general resolution, and not for the specific aspects or
components.

4) Not feeling worthy of the relationship, or the healing.

5) Feeling guilty of various transgressions and secrets.

6) Entering into prayer with a cluttered mind.

7) Doubts and negative associations about prayer or the divine entities that you
are praying to.

8) Entering into prayer when stressed or upset, and praying about something other
than the upset / stress.

9) Rudeness, arrogance, or entitlement toward the divine entities you are praying
to.

10) Demanding results.

11) Being overly attached to a specific desired outcome you are requesting. A more
general request often gets better results.

12) Not praying enough. Many religious texts, across religions, refer to things
like unceasing prayer, and continuous prayer. That certainly sounds like more than
a quick prayer a couple of times a year when trouble appears.

13) Praying while intoxicated. Nothing inherently wrong with praying during times
of intoxication, however, praying soberly can vastly increase your satisfaction.

14) Praying to look good or to gain the approval of others.

15) Not being of prayerful service.

Here is the format which attempts to address these issues. Feel free to vary it as
you see fit.

Step 1) Make a short list of the holy and divine entities that you feel comfortable
praying to. This might be a very short list of one or two or three. It might be a
much longer list of 10 to 20. More than that and it becomes unwieldy.

Step 2) Set aside some time when you will not be disturbed. Remove as many
distractions as possible.

Step 3) Consider what and who you want to pray about. Many people keep a list of
personal issues, and people and more general topics to pray for. Take one issue of
interest, and list as many aspects and components of it as possible. What ideas,
feelings, emotions, sensations, meanings, beliefs, intentions, identities, desires,
fears, dislikes, characteristics, attitudes, perceptions, conflicts, experiences,
upsets, communications, patterns, behaviors, importances, and so forth do you have
about the topic? Add each of these details to your prayer list.

Do feel any kind of strong upset? Add it to your prayer list.

Do you have any problems you are stressed about? If so, add them to the list.
Do you have any transgressions, or secrets? Add them as well.
Do you have any doubts about the process?
Do you have any negative experiences with the Divine, or prayer?
Do you not feel worthy of a relationship with God, or healing (or your Divine
names?)

Now put any upsets, problems, transgressions, or secrets at the top of the list.
Address these first.

Step 3) Establish communication with the holy and divine beings you are praying to.
___ Divine Name__, would you please be willing to communicate with me?

Pause, and notice what you notice, internally and externally.

You might get words mentally. Wonderful. Generally accept this, however be sure to
distinguish between your own voice and internal dialogue and that of the Divine.

Also, if its hostile, negative, or in any way doesn't feel good be a little wary.
Sometimes, some divine beings will scold you. If that happens, it may not feel
good, but will likely be good for you. So, listen up.

However it could be a dark aspect of yourself playing tricks on you. If it seems

negative other than similar to a parental scolding, add this experience to your
prayer list. You can ask for another communication that you will respond more
positively to.

You might get a feeling sensation, a mental image, a sound, a smell or a taste, or
a combination. Often you will just know that its a communication. Perfect.

The goal of step 3 is to have an undeniable experience of being in communication

with the Divine.

Step 3A) Whether you believe at this point you have established communication or
not, thank the Divine, and feel appreciation.

Remember, no communication is still a communication.

If you have any doubts about the communication, ask for a stronger communication so
that you can notice it.

Step 3B) Optional. Use a pendulum, ideomotor signaling (such as finger signals), or
muscle testing to help you to distinguish the communication.

Step 3C) Optional. If after trying various methods to establish communication you
don't seem to be able to establish a communication, persist, and have faith and
trust that the communication is happening anyway.

How would you describe this difficulty or block in communication?

Add this to your list.

Step 4) Select the first item from your prayer list.

Step 5) Describe it fully, in complete detail to the Divine, until you are
satisfied you have fully described it.

Step 6) Ask the Divine if there are any messages, things it wants you to know about
it, anything you need to learn or understand about it? Or if there is any guidance
or direction the Divine has for you.

Step 7) Listen, and be open to see and hear any messages or communication.

Step 8) Thank the Divine for the messages and lessons.

Step 9) Repeat steps 5, 6, 7, and 8 until the Divine you have completely and fully
communicated everything about this to the Divine, and the Divine has completely
communicated to you and you fully understand.

Step10) Request Resolution and Blessing.

Insert Divine Name(s), " Please fully, completely, and permanently heal, release,
resolve, correct, repair, set me free from ___INSERT PRAYER ITEM HERE__, forgiving
me and all involved, blessing, resolving, clearing, purifying, transforming,
helping me let fully go of that which I need to let go of, loving all concerned,
gently granting me total acceptance, peace, and grace, strengthening me in all
ways, protecting us, guiding us, enriching us, prospering us, energizing us,
balancing us, bringing your love, light, divine truth, and grace through every
aspect and component of __PRAYER ITEM ___ including the sources, causes, root
causes, and contributing factors known and unknown, and make these healings real,
solid and manifest and bring them fully into the present moment now, and bring them
into every moment of the past, and every moment of the future."

Pause to experience what you notice now.

Step 11) Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Step 12) Repeat Steps 4 - 11, until you are out of time, or have gone through your
list.

You can vary the wording of the requests as is appropriate.
