PCA-Ethical Communities Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the four ethical communities
2. Apply the ethical communities to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

As a Supervisor at Starbucks, my main goal is to ensure partners and customers are

having a good Starbucks experience. Currently, Starbucks is experiencing staffing
problems. Staffing is what sets every store up for success. The situation we are having at
Starbucks is customers are not experiencing a good experience and training is not being
effective. Customer satisfaction needs to be more enforced in training and the training
needs to be updated to satisfy business needs to make more effective baristas and shift
supervisors.

2) Describe how the ethics of the organization influenced the situation.

The ethics of starbucks helps influence my situation because some of the values that
come with ethics of an organization would be fairness and justice, respect, caring truth
worthiness. I want to focus on the trust worthiness because this is one thing that is need in
my situation. Starbucks is trying to make changes and improvements to help get the
stores back in good standing and this.

Another aspect to look out for this reponsiviliy. I think that knowing who is responsible
and holding people accountable for things that are not getting done in the work place is
what should be getting done.

3) Recommend how you would apply one of the ethical communities for an alternative
course of action regarding your case.

I would apply on of the ethicial communities for an alternative course of action by

keeping in mind being kind and fair ness. Within my situation things can get frustrating
and we may do things that might not help pthe situation out if anger. One thing I think
will help us being kind, Being kind will is by choice but it brings out positivity and some
type of safe haven

1
Being understaffed can be frustrating on the weekend. It makes us act out of our orignak
character. I think this is actually the busiest we ger and it starts to feel as though no one is
doing anything about us being understaffed and it seems on fair. I think it is ethical to
understand as a worker that there is someone understanding what we are going through
and will help us, things wont be the same forever.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about ethics.

Something I would do differently is introduce ethics to my team. They may influence how a
situation at work might turn out. Knowing what is ethically right and wrong might also help
what is going on in a postitive way. I do think I would continue hadnliing the situation the way I
was because when it comes to ethicis is ore so about what is the right and wrong thing to do.
With dealing with our situation there is no right or wrong things to do when it comes to our
staffing problem. Everyone is going to react out they feel like it.
