NHL Playoffs

Jimmy Howard, the Detroit Red Wings goalie, was reflecting on his first NHL playoff experience and the advice he received from veteran goalie Chris Osgood. Osgood told Howard that experiencing the playoffs is very different than just being told about them, and that a goalie has to learn through the ups and downs of the postseason. Howard recalled going through his own challenges in his first playoff run with the Red Wings, reaching the second round. With recent examples of inexperienced goalies like Antti Niemi winning the Stanley Cup, experience may no longer be as important for playoff goalies as getting hot at the right time.
