Purpose
The purpose of a photographer is to communicate and document
moments in time. Landscape photography is similar typically to
capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made
features or disturbances of landscapes.
Landscape photography can increase your understanding of light and
exposure. It gets you thinking about sunrises, sunsets, golden hours,
contrast, shadows, highlights, mid tones, backlighting and front
lighting.
Personal attributes
Creativity and Imagination - Photography is a form of art therefore, it requires
a creative mind—and plenty of imagination
Passion - When you’re passionate about what you do, it will always shine through in your
work. It takes a lot of time and effort to make it as a professional photographer, and the ones
who do succeed and manage to make a name for themselves are those who are truly
passionate about their craft.
An Eye for Detail - A good photographer must have a very keen eye for detail to ensure that all elements within the photo - the
lighting, the composition, the subject, etc. work together harmoniously to convey the right vision or message. Even the tiniest
detail can make or break a photograph. So having an eye for detail, and being meticulous when scrutinizing every single element to
ensure cohesiveness, is very important in producing the perfect photograph.
Patience and flexibility - No matter how much you try to control every variable, things just won’t go your way at times.
There will be days when your camera just won’t give you the desired results. Whatever photography field you may be in,
patience is always an essential quality to have. You need to be patient enough to keep trying when you simply can’t get the right
shot.
In addition to patience, you also need to be flexible. The two qualities go hand in hand—you need to be patient enough to deal
with whatever comes your way, and you need to be flexible enough to make the best of undesirable conditions.

Education/skills
While some landscape photographers are professionally trained, it is possible to become a landscape photographer
without formal education. Anyone with an understanding and basic knowledge of photography, as well as a talent for
photographing landscapes, can become a landscape photographer.
But it is easier to launch a career as a landscape photographer if you have formal education in landscape photography.
Some colleges and universities offer associate and bachelor's degrees in photography, and the curriculums for these
programs usually include one or more classes in landscape photography.
Learn how to control your camera exposure – sometimes an image needs to be under or over exposed to get the
proper colours.
Focus settings – Some of the image can be out of focus to make to make the main part of your photograph sharp and
clear.
Be creative – Don’t re create similar photographs that have already been taken, be original and create your own
photographs.
Be prepared – you need to be prepared for all types of weather conditions and be prepared to climb or get to places
that aren’t easy to get to, to take the photographs that you want.
