The reason why the project E-Bridge to mobility was
created came mainly from observing the EU labour
market and analysis of the needs of Eastern Europe
emigrants (especially those from Bulgaria, Poland,
Romania and Slovakia). They are moving from one EU
country to another (especially to England, Germany,
Spain) for educational, financial or social reasons.

Adventure with Europe

Studies are the best time for an intercultural adventure. Stu-
dent exchange is intended to raise the level and strengthen
the European dimension of education at higher schools, most-
ly through the support for international cooperation between
universities and extension of student exchange.
What is student exchange?
This program assumes exchange under universities world-
wide. In Europe students have an opportunity to start learning
under the EU university student exchange. There are many stu-
dent exchange programs having defined principles of univer-
sity student exchange. On the other hand, the purpose is one:
to learn culture and learn language of the country to which
we are heading. Usually, students stay at families that receive
them for a specified time, on the basis of a voluntary service,
and therefore students become members of these families.
The most popular student exchange program in Europe is
the Erasmus Program. The program is directed to all member
countries belonging to the EU, as well as countries of the Euro-
pean Economic Area: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway.

And how about work?
During studies many students take leave so as to catch a breath and go to a differ-
ent country, not only in order to gain valuable experience, but also to work a little
bit and make a future living. Students use mostly temporary employment. There are
many possibilities. Citizens of the European Union can leave to other EU member
countries on the basis of a valid ID card without the need to obtain a visa or permit
for stay and search for work there in person. A student status, however, gives more
possibilities with regard to search for gainful work. A first step to undertake a gainful
occupation is receipt of a personal questionnaire in the provincial labor office. The
interested parties should meet a basic condition, which is command of the language
of a country to which they are heading. Certainly, the level of command of a lan-
guage depends on the undertaken occupation.
In each country there are Employment Services that look exactly for foreigners to
gainful work. The Community Members have priority in issuing work permits in rela-
tion to countries that are not members countries. Foreigners have the same rights as
local employees. All EU citizens benefit from the European social security system.
Students search for jobs most often via Employment Services. Many offers can be
found on web portals, focusing on search for work in a specific country, or using
search engine of job offers for foreigners. The most popular database is the Euro-
pean Employment Services – Eures (http://ec.europa.eu/eures). Created by public
services for employment issues. Its task is facilitation of a free flow of employees
inside the European Economic Area. The Eures services are addressed to both peo-
ple searching for jobs and employers. Search engine and consulting under the Eures
breaks barriers and creates many possibilities with regard to beginning of the mobil-
ity of the Europeans.
