CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
This chapter presents Introduction, Background of the Study, Scope
and Limitations, and Statement of the Problem.
Introduction
Online learning is a way to deliver learning remotely to those who choose
not to attend from a physical location. At formal institutions like colleges and
universities, online learning is delivered via a Learning Management System (LMS)
that allows instructors to create and add content, assignments, and activities that
students can access with an Internet connection on a computer or mobile device.
This is not the only form of online learning, but it is the most utilized method to
receive a formal education, and allow instructors and students to create a learning
community for their classes. Technology we have today for learning. It has moved
on from the traditional classroom and whiteboard style to online learning with the
supplementation of the mobile phone. There are various benefits of online and
mobile learning however there are benefits that the traditional method of learning
that technology cannot overcome. Online learning is the process of studying
without having to physically attending classes or lectures and mobile learning is to
help online learning more efficient by quickly. The demand of learning is growing
larger and larger because of the development of the economic. With the enlarging
needs of learning, online learning appears to give not only students but also
teachers a chance to perform better in learning. Online learning provides more free

time and space to both two parties while traditional learning strictly demands both
parties participate in the same time and at the same place. What’s more, online
learning may enhance the students’ comprehensive ability. Interactivity in our lives
is very important especially in the learning process between learners and
instructors and the learning content. Interaction can be used in different teaching
environments like formal and informal education. The learner can interact with the
teacher in order to get some knowledge. (Bernard et al., 2009; Ke, 2013) As a
student, the interaction is really the crucial element for their fundamental
knowledge and emotional development in traditional teaching methods.
Online learning offers students the opportunity to learn whenever best
suits them. This helps them, and their parents, balance their education with their
home life. That children have more freedom to work at their own pace, which
improves their learning experience and helps them build a better understanding
with their teacher. This is also important for the teacher because it helps them
structure their classes to suit the individual learning requirements of each child. To
learn online was significantly predicted by four self-regulatory factors and attitudes,
mediated through perceived online social interactions. The strategies for future
online course design with a view of improving students’ self-regulated learning
skills are discussed in this paper Zhu (2020). Students and parents learned fairly
quickly what needed to be done to ensure success. I learned fairly quickly that
some students needed more support academically and emotionally just like in the

classroom. Those students that merely survived in the classroom also survived in
their new online learning setting, and those students that thrived in the classroom
also thrived in their new online learning setting Tilotta (2020) that online learning
attitudes and readiness of students did not differ in a statistically significant manner
by faculty/department studied. This study revealed that online learning attitude of
learners has a positive effect on their online learning readiness. to provide the
learner with a decent online learning, it is a need to form basis for online learning
readiness by creating a positive online learning attitude Hergurner (2020).
Online learning practices have gained momentum as a result of the
developments in network technologies and an increase in the capacity of current
technological devices that are used to deliver learning Firat (2020). That students'
computer/Internet self-efficacy for online learning readiness had a mediated effect
not only on online learning perceptions and online discussion score but also on
online learning perceptions and course satisfaction. The helpful for both academics
and practitioners of online learning to design online courses that particularly
emphasize computer/Internet self-efficacy Huei-chuan (2020).
