union of physical, mental and spiritual health originated in ancient India. Yoga is well known
for its unique poses, controlled breathing techniques, meditation, and physical exercise.
The main aim of yoga is a healthy body with a healthy mind. There are different types of
yoga followed in India such as Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Power
Yoga, Buddhist Yoga, and more.
There are various types of yoga :-
• Hatha yoga :- The Sanskrit term "hatha" is an umbrella term for all physical postures
of yoga. In the West, hatha yoga simply refers to all
• the other styles of yoga (ashtanga, Iyengar, etc.) that are grounded in a physical
practice. However, there are other branches of yoga such as kriya, raja, and karma
yoga that are separate from the physical-based yoga practice. The physical-based
yoga is the most popular and has numerous styles.
• Vinyasa yoga :- Vinyasa means "to place in a special way" and, in this case, yoga
postures. Vinyasa yoga is the often considered the most athletic yoga style. Vinyasa
was adapted from ashtanga yoga in the 1980s. Many types of yoga can also be
considered vinyasa flows such as ashtanga, power yoga, and prana.
• Ashtanga yoga :- Ashtanga is a system of yoga that was brought to the modern world
by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This form of yoga includes six series and each series is a set
sequence of asanas, always in the same order. It is typically fast-paced, vigorous and
physically challenging.
• Power yoga:- Power yoga is described as vigorous, vinyasa-style yoga. Power yoga's
popularity has spread across the globe and is now taught everywhere. Because the
style can vary, it is recommended that you consult the individual instructor before
performing it.
• Bikram yoga :- It consists of twenty-six postures and two breathing techniques. This
style of yoga helps flush toxins, manage weight and allow performers to move more
deeply into postures.
• Jivamukti yoga :- This style of yoga was created in 1984. Chanting, meditation,
readings and affirmations are done in this style of yoga.
• Iyengar yoga :- Poses are held much longer in this form of yoga in an effort to pay
closer attention to the precise musculoskeletal alignment within each asana. Another
trademark of Iyengar is the use of props, such as blocks, belts, bolsters, chairs and
blankets, which are used to accommodate injuries, tightness or structural
imbalances, as well as teach the student how to move properly into a posture.
• Anusara yoga :- The anusara style is a new system of hatha that teaches a set of
Universal Principles of Alignment that underlie all yoga postures, while encouraging
flowing with grace and following your heart. It is broadly categorized into three parts
known as the three A’s and they include attitude, alignment and action
• Sivananda Yoga :- It typically begins with Savasana (relaxation pose), Kapalabharti
and anuloma viloma, followed by a few rounds of Surya Namaskara. Then it moves
through Sivananda's twelve asanas, which together are designed to increase strength
and flexibility of the spine. Chanting and meditation can also be a part of it.
• Viniyoga :- Viniyoga refers to an approach to yoga that adapts the various means and
methods of practice to the unique condition, needs and interests of the individual.
This style of yoga helps in self-discovery and personal transformation.
• Kundalini Yoga :- Kundalini incorporates multiple movements or exercises, dynamic
breathing practices, chanting, meditation and mantras. Each specific kundalini
exercise, referred to as a kriya, is a movement that is often repeated and is
synchronized with the breath. The practice is designed to awaken the energy at the
base of the spine in order to draw it upward through each of the seven chakras.
• Yin Yoga :- Yin yoga is a slow-paced style in which poses are held for five minutes or
longer. Even though it is passive, yin yoga can be quite challenging due to the long
duration holds, particularly if your body is not used to it. The purpose is to apply
moderate stress to the connective tissue - the tendons, fascia and ligaments - with
the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
Yoga works on the level of one’s body, mind, emotion and energy. This has given rise
to four broad classifications of Yoga karma yoga, where we use the body; bhakti
yoga, where we use the emotions Gyana yoga, where we use the mind and intellect;
and kriya yoga, where we use the energy. All the ancient commentaries on Yoga
focus on performing the Yoga under the direction of a Guru. The reason being that
only a Guru can mix the appropriate combination of the four fundamental paths, as is
necessary for each seeker.
Now-a-days, millions and millions of people across the globe have been benefitted by
practicing Yoga on daily basis which has been preserved and promoted by the great
eminent Yoga Masters from ancient time to this date. The practice of Yoga is
flourishing, and growing more vibrant every day.
DANCE :- dance, the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within
a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply
taking delight in the movement itself. Dance is physical form of exercise.

technique and flexibility.

that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature
aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that
tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and
resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is
a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps
RECREATION :- recreation is an activity of body and minds which gives relief from tension
and fatigue when we continue doing a work or performing in activity regularly and
countinuously for some hours .
▪ What is Ayurveda ?
Ayurveda is a holistic Indian system of medicine that uses a constitutional model. It
works to provide a flexible guidance to attain a state of positive health. Its treatment
and techniques is also flexible for people with
health challenges.
Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit root words:
Ayu, which means Life, and Veda, which means
the Knowledge. Thus it would be safe to call
Ayurveda as the ‘Science of life’ more than a mere
system of treating an illness.
Ayurvedic Body Types
Ayurveda is based on the principles of three doshas or the three basic energy types which
are further classified as vata, pitta & kapha. According to Ayurveda, these doshas or
energies can be found in everyone and everything thus making them the essential building
blocks of the material world. All the three doshas combine to create different climates,
different foods, different species, and even different individuals within the same species
and perform different physiological functions in every individual body. In fact, the particular
ratio of vata, pitta, and kapha within each of us has a significant influence on our individual
physical, mental, and emotional character traits.
1) Vata Dosha (wind energy):
Vata is predominantly composed of the space and air elements. It is the energy that is
linked to creativity & flexibility and controls bodily functions associated with motion,
including blood circulation, breathing, blinking, tissue movement, cellular mobility,
heartbeat and the communication between mind and the nervous system. When an
imbalance of vata dosha occurs in the body, it can produce fear and anxiety.
2) Pitta Dosha (fire energy):
Pitta is principally made up of the fire and water elements and is an amalgamation of the
hot, sharp, light, liquid, oily, and subtle qualities. Pitta is neither mobile nor stable, but
spreads. It controls the body's metabolic systems including digestion, absorption, nutrition,
and your body's temperature. When in balance, it lends contentment & intelligence and its
imbalance can cause ulcers and anger.
3) Kapha Dosha (water energy):
Kapha is composed primarily of the earth and water elements. It is the energy that lends
structure and solidity to all things and provides the cohesiveness needed to maintain a
particular form. It controls growth in body and provides water to all parts of the body. As a
result, it hydrates all cells and systems, lubricates the joints, moisturizes the skin, maintains
immunity and protects the tissues. When in balance, it is expressed as love and forgiveness;
and when it goes out of balance it can lead to feelings of insecurity & envy.
▪ What is panchakarma treatment ?
Indian Ayurveda has given the world a considerable measure of things. These things have
changed the way individuals live and they have made the progress from a world loaded
with ailments to the world perfectly fit and healthy. The significance of Ayurveda is
tremendous and it is without a doubt the main practice with regards to alternate forms of
medicine.
Ostensibly the most eminent branch of Ayurveda is Panchakarma. The name Panchakarma
literally means "Five Actions" which is well-suited given the fact that this technique relies
upon five distinctive basic activities that control the body namely Vomiting, Purgation,
Niruham, Anuvaasan, and Nasyam. In other words, Panchakarma healing technique is a
pillar on which majority of Ayurvedic techniques stand.
Panchakarma works best with the utilization of medicated oils that helps in eliminating the
impurities from the human body. Panchakarma is the true manifestation of the Ayurvedic
values and it lives up to its reputation.
Five Panchkarma therpies :-
Vaman:
In this treatment, a patient is given inside and outside oleation and fomentation treatments
for few days which includes therapies and some ayurvedic medicines. Once the toxins get
melted and accumulate in upper cavities of body, the patient is given emetic medicines and
decoction. This enables vomiting and helps in disposing of the poisons from the body
tissues. Vaman treatment is particularly suggested basically for kapha-dominated
conditions, such as weight gain, asthma and hyperacidity.
Virechan:
In virechan, purgation or disposal of toxins happens through the clearing of the bowels. In
this treatment too, the patient is given inside and outside oleation and fomentation
treatments. From that point onward, the patient is given a natural purgative to encourage
clearing of the guts that aides in purifying the body of toxins. Virechan treatment is
prescribed fundamentally for pitta -dominated conditions, such as herpes zoster, jaundice ,
colitis, celiac infection etc.
Basti:
Managing medicated substances through enema is Ayurveda's exceptional commitment to
the therapeutic world. The treatment has huge advantages, particularly in convoluted and
chronic diseases. According to the nature of disease, home grown decoctions, oils, ghee or
milk are managed into the rectum and this has incredible positive effects. This treatment is
to a great degree powerful against vata-dominated conditions, such as arthritis, piles and
constipation. Also, read more about medicine for constipation.
Nasya:
This treatment is extremely effective in clearing and purging the head area. At the
beginning of the treatment, the head and shoulder areas are given a delicate massage and
fomentation. After that, nasal drops are regulated in both the nostrils. This achieves the
cleaning of the whole head area and diminishes different sorts of cerebral pain, headache,
hair issues, sleep disorder, neurological disorders, sinusitis , chronic rhinitis and respiratory
ailments.
Raktamokshan:
This treatment is useful for cleaning of blood and viable against ailments caused because of

especially valuable in different skin infections, such as psoriasis, dermatitis , and
