Message from the Chairs and Editors
This year we are joyful and proud. We are celebrating the Jubilee, 10 years of MECO conference.
When organizing the first Mediterranean Conference on Embedded Computing (MECO) in Bar,
Montenegro, 2012, honestly, we did not hope that the conference would live that long and leave such
a trace on science and technology in the Region and wider. Today, taking the facts into account, we
can no doubt say that MECO and International Conference on Cyber Physical Systems and Internet of
Things (CPSIoT) have become the most prestigious events in their fields, even formally classified
among the TOP conferences.
MECO and CPSIoT have always been organized in Montenegro, an amazing small Mediterranean
country with pleasant people. This year, MECO will take place for its seventh time in charming Budva,
from June 7th till June 10th.
It is for the 2nd time we organise our events during disaster known as COVID-19. MECO did not give
up, and with greater motivation, team work and solidarity we show that disaster cannot stop science
and technology. Jubilee agenda is richer than ever. Despite the strict evaluation criteria, over 195 works
were deserved to be included in our Programme. They are coming from about 55 countries, which
make MECO and CPSIoT truly international high impact events. We consider it as great success,
having in mind the pandemic time and economic crisis. At least, half of the papers belong to young
researchers, who recognize MECO and CPSIoT as their chance, not only because of the quality, but,
also, because of our principle that young researchers should be able to publish in low-cost and
constantly supporting them in their academic and professional growth. In addition to impressive
number of the papers, our events will be reinforced by 6 outstanding keynotes, coming from academia
and high-tech industry. project disseminations, companies expeditions, round tables, demo sessions
etc.
Traditionally, MECO and CPSIoT represent twin events co-organised and supported by IEEE,
EUROMICRO, MANT, MECOnet, University of Montenegro, Ryazan State Radio Engineering
University, Eindhoven Technical University, University of Zagreb, University of Belgrade, Saint-
Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, Industrial Systems Institute, Ministries of
Montenegro, Cikom, Elkon, Plantaze, Elemend, Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”,
Industrial Systems Institute, European projects as it is SMART4ALL. This year's 2nd Summer School
on Cyber Physical + Systems and Internet of Things (SS on CPS&IoT) is a real positive surprise,
having 60 students and presenters, from over 20 countries. It is additional proof of our commitment to
new trends and their fostering.
This year MECO and CPSIoT programme runs in 15 thematic areas: Cyber-Physical Systems and
Internet-of-Things, Hardware and Applications, Software and Applications, DSP and Artificial
Intelligence with Applications, Communications and Networks, Control, Robotics, Sensors and
Measurements, 4th Workshop on Recent Advances in Computational and Engineering Methods in
Biomedicine and Rehabilitation, Education in Electrical Engineering, Energy and Embedded
Computing, Digital Heritage, SMART4ALL, Related fields, Project dissemination and Demo session
and Keynotes. Sections are further divided into sessions; the total number of sessions is over 30, during
3 days of the conference.
What achievement makes us feel so proud of? Undoubtedly, it is the MECO Proceedings, which have
been indexed in prestigious Databases: IEEE Xplore, SCOPUS, Web of Science (WoS), DPLB
Computer Science Bibliography, SJRScimago Journal & Country Rank, Microsoft Academic,
Schematic Scholar, Google Scholar, Research Gate etc. as well as in numerous Regional and
University Digital Libraries. It is contributing to high citation of our papers. We are ranked in TOP
conferences in electronics and computing according to Guide2Research.
A high-quality MECO and CPSIoT academic program would not have been possible without the
contribution of authors, keynote speakers, organizers, student volunteers, and more than 600 reviewers
who have been working very diligently to prepare documents and presentations, establish conference
infrastructure, and produce relevant materials. Special thanks to all of them.
To ensure the high level of quality would have not been possible without the support of IEEE and
EUROMICRO, international umbrella organisations for embedded computing and wider electrical
and computer engineering. By organizing MECO, the Montenegrin Association of New
Technologies – MANT and vibrant innovative spin-off MECOnet have shown a new way in
knowledge dissemination, sharing and promotion, giving a proof that this mission is not only a
privilege of the Big.
At the end, we would like to extend our thanks to all enthusiastic colleagues from the Organizational
and Scientific Committee as well as to our sponsors and supporters.
Though being very proud of the opportunity to host this event in mixed mode remotely and in venue.
We regret that this year only small number of our authors will be able to enjoy city of Budva and
surrounding Riviera, one of the oldest settlements across the whole of the Adriatic coast, with
documented references dating back to the 5th century BC, its golden beaches, refreshing sea breeze
and delicious Mediterranean cuisine.
We wish all participants an excellent conference, good health, personal and family happiness and
career success!
Have a happy Jubilee MECO & CPSIoT!
