Nick Ortner: Hi, this is Nick Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution for Pain Relief. Welcome
to the bonus audio for chapter five. In this tapping meditation we’ll be tapping on
your diagnosis. In addition to releasing emotions around your diagnosis we’ll be
releasing limiting beliefs that may have been created by it. As we’ve seen in this
chapter there are different parts of your diagnosis that can affect your pain. First,
there’s the diagnosis itself. As one example, I’ve worked with a lot of people
who’ve been told their condition is degenerative. Just that word degenerative can
result in a lot of fear, anxiety, frustration, and other emotions. As a result of that
diagnosis people often create a belief that there’s nothing more that can be done.
That their back, or knee, or hip, or all of their joints will continue to deteriorate
over time. That they are fated to end up in a wheelchair. That their body is broken
and more. That’s just one possible scenario about how a diagnosis can create
             emotions and beliefs.
In this chapter we’ve also seen how the experience of getting your diagnosis can
create emotions and beliefs. For example, having a severe diagnosis delivered to
you in a harsh, unfeeling way can leave you feeling angry and afraid. To process
and release that event be sure to return to the bonus audio for Chapter Four and
use the movie technique. In this tapping meditation we’ll be focusing on releasing
the emotions and beliefs created by the diagnosis itself. As always, when we’re
tapping feel free to use words that words that reflect your experience. Before we
begin tapping focus on your diagnosis. First on the emotions that you feel when
you think about your diagnosis. Does your diagnosis make you anxious? Afraid?
Frustrated? Angry? Hopeless? In your pain relief tapping journal write down the
emotions you feel when you think about your diagnosis. Focus on one or two
emotions that feel the most intense right now. And give them a number on a scale
of zero to ten. Also, make a note of why you’re feeling physical pain. And give
that pain a number on a scale of zero to ten.
Let’s start by taking three deep breathes. Feeling safe and grounded in your body.
Feeling present in space and time. We’ll start by tapping on the side of the hand,
               the karate chop point.
Side of Hand Even though I have all these emotions around my diagnosis
I love myself and accept how I feel.
Even though I have so much anxiety and fear around my diagnosis
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

CB All this anger about my pain and my diagnosis.
UA It’s safe to feel this anger.
TH And it’s safe to let it go.
And take a moment, tapping through the points. And just say your diagnosis out
loud. Whatever you were told. About your body. About your pain. Just say it out
loud. And tune in to how your body feels when you say that. Just those words
likely have an emotional charge. Tapping through the points. And saying your
diagnosis out loud. Feeling into your body as you say it out loud. Tuning into all
the feelings, the beliefs, all the emotions around your diagnosis. Tapping through
the points. And just feeling that charge release. Speak your diagnosis out loud,
and feel how it lets go. How the charge around just those words, what you were

UA What if things could change?
TH This diagnosis is just an opinion.
EB Perhaps an informed opinion.
SE But it’s just one statement.
UE And what if I could release that statement?
UN And allow my body to heal.
UM And what if I could release all the pain, the anger, the fear, the anxiety around this
       diagnosis?
CB It is what it is.
UA Feeling into your body.
TH Thinking about the diagnosis, and letting go.
You can gently stop tapping, and take a deep breath. Think again about your
diagnosis and the emotions that it brought up. Where are you now on a scale of
zero to ten? Also notice your pain. Has there been a shift in the intensity, the
location, or the type of pain? Just tune in to those feelings. I’ll keep the music
playing for a few more minutes. And you can either continue tapping on any
