St. Domingo Church

Santo Domingo Church was built in 1587 to be the head mission

church of the Dominican missionaries who arrived in Manila that
year. The church was named in honor of the founder of the
Dominican Order, after whom also the Dominicans were named:
the Spanish priest St. Dominic (Domingo in Spanish) de
Guzman.

“Cry of Pugad Lawin” also known as "Cry of

Balintawak"

It occured last August 23, 1896. It was a historical event that

made a mark during Philippine Independence, when Andres
Bonifacio along with the Katipuneros tore their cedulas which is
paper wherein an order or authorization is written by those in
power.

REFLECTION:

Elementary students learn best when they experience what they're doing, and as their educator, I should
find a creative way to get their interest. These cultural icons can be integrated into my lesson in which I can use
these cultural icons in letting my students' explore the stories behind cultural icons in their region. I can also integrate
this in teaching my students how to analyze the arts and structures of a particular cultural icon—and even getting its
area and the perimeter.
