What is being famous?
In this case, my answer is Celebrity (sometimes referred to as
celebrity anglicism) or fame are attributes of widely known and reputable people who
have a high degree of attention from the general public and the media.
What makes fame so desirable? Seeing millions of people go crazy over celebrities like
Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, and Beyonce - it would definitely make
everyone want to be famous; getting unconditional love and so many smiles from so
many people you don't even know, getting free stuff, being treated better than
everyone else, not having to introduce yourself because most people recognize you.
Apparently famous people seem to get a lot of benefits that ordinary people don't.
This makes people believe that life is much easier for a famous person, they believe
that being famous solves all problems; poverty, abandonment, rejection, lack, etc.
All these benefits make the idea of being famous very attractive to the anonymous;
This is also the reason why most people think that they would like to become famous.
But there is something else that plays a bigger role in making fame so attractive and
worth fighting for.
Another question we can ask ourselves is ...
Why is fame more of a problem than a solution? People who fantasize about being
famous don't understand what fame really offers (mere attention); They don't realize
that getting people's attention doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be loved or
understood by them, which is why everyone wants to get famous in the first place.
Generally, fame creates more problems than you think you can solve. Let's take all the
hatred that comes with the attention that fame offers; strangers who have no idea
how you really are in person are going to attack you and try to destroy your image.
Random people on the Internet will express their negative opinions in detail, unable or
simply unwilling to imagine that famous people bleed much faster than anyone else.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
# 1 They get special treatment
When a celebrity comes to a restaurant, they get certain benefits that other people do
not. They get better service than a mere mortal can get. From special places in a
concert, to the best tables in a restaurant, this is one of the great advantages of being
famous and having preferences. In a nightclub you don't even have to stand in line, or
if you go to a function of an important event you can get seats in the first seats. Surely
you too would like to try some of this for a few moments.,
# 2 They are usually rich
One of the advantages of being famous is that you are usually rich. This does not
always happen, but the fact of being someone famous implies that if they call you to
an event you can charge a lot of money, and that in the long run implies wealth. With
that come luxurious cars and houses, earrings gifts, designer clothes, and other
materialistic whims. Pleasures of life that not everyone can enjoy, but being famous
you are more likely to do so. Some celebrities do not just have a simple house, but
they own their own islands. Just by watching a television program where they show
the lives of the rich and famous you will realize the material things they get.
# 3 They are recognized where they go
Celebrities are recognized wherever they go. This helps to increase people's
confidence and ego, the fact that a stranger recognizes you and says something good
to you. In the long run this effect disappears and can become a bit tedious if you just
want to go unnoticed. However, no one can deny that being recognized makes you feel
good and raises your self-esteem.
# 4 They have groups of fans
Fans are people who idolize celebrities. He has a great admiration for famous people
and they show it wherever they go. They send correspondence and other forms of
appreciation to their idols, which can be flattering. Having your own fans is something
that anyone would want, it makes you feel really good that someone values you that
way.
# 5 Opportunities abound
When a person becomes famous, opportunities in life come up all the time, both in
terms of a professional career and in other areas of life. For example, Michael Jordan
built an empire and large contracts with brands outside of basketball. He was the face
of Nike and promoted other products that earned him a lot of money. The Kardashians
managed to venture into other businesses due to their fame. So, they forged brands of
perfumes, cosmetics and beauty products in general. Being famous is something that
opens certain doors for you that if you weren't, you wouldn't even know they exist.
The disadvantages are…
# 1 They can't do things that average people do
If a famous person goes to a supermarket like any of us do, what do you think will
happen? Surely in a few seconds she would be surrounded by people asking for photos
and autographs. That is why they cannot have a normal life and take a break from their
fame. They find themselves locked in their own world, where they cannot get out
unless they do so safely and to certain selected locations. They cannot afford to do
something mundane or to be one of the crowds. That is forbidden for them due to the
curse of fame.
# 2 They can attract stalkers
On the news we read or hear about celebrity harassment from an extreme fan who has
no way of controlling himself. They chase after their idol, call his house, send him
emails and have other attitudes that border on the dangerous. We could define it as an
obsession, a point of no return that sometimes ends tragically for one of the parties.
# 3 Fake friends
With fame and money, sometimes you can't tell if relationships are genuine or fake.
Many seek to befriend a famous person for all that this entails, and that relationship is
not entirely healthy. It is difficult to be testing each new person that appears in your
life to determine if they are with you because of who you are or because of your fame.
This is very stressful and even lonely at times.
# 4 They always judge you
Magazines, blogs, and the media are constantly judging all of your actions, habits, your
body, and more. Sometimes they do it out of respect, other times they are quite cruel
to celebrities. It is as if all the time you have people talking behind your back, but in
their case there are thousands or millions. Imagine what it is like to wake up and find
all over the internet a photo of you and the comments judging you.
# 5 They have no privacy
If you want to go to the beach to spend a day with your family, you can forget about
yourself, the photographers and other people will follow you and will not leave you
alone. You cannot go to breakfast with your partner or with your children and enjoy
the privacy. There are few things in your life that remain private, and many of them
you cannot choose. That is why they cannot have a normal life and take a break from
their fame. They find themselves locked in their own world, where they cannot get out
unless they do so safely and to certain selected locations. They cannot afford to do
something mundane or to be one of the crowds. That is forbidden for them due to the
