BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Intramural sports or intramurals are recreational sports organized within a particular
institution, usually an educational institution, or a set geographic area] The term, which is chiefly
North American, derives from two Latin words Intra and muros meaning "within walls”, and was
used to describe sports matches and contests that took place among teams from "within the walls"
of an institution or area. The term dates to the 1840s. It is contrasted with extramural, varsity or
intercollegiate sports, which are played between teams from different educational institutions. The
word intermural, which also correctly means "between institutions", is a common error for
"intramural".
A balance sports program provided opportunities for all to learn the basic sports and encourage
to master skills. It grows out of this base and provide additional instruction, practice, and
opportunity for competition.
In implementing Sports Program basics are required:
SAFETY
Good physical conditioning is an important prerequisite to competitive play. Fatigue must
be controlled, and attention is given to matters of physical and mental stress. Safety Instruction
is essential since each sports have particular hazard.
FACILITIES AND EQUIPTMENT
Facilities or equipment means buildings, structures, process or production equipment or
machinery that form a permanent part of a new source and that will be used in its operation, if
these facilities or equipment
are of such value as to represent a substantial commitment to construct. Proper equipment and
supplies are primary consideration. Preparation of facilities, particularly outdoor must be
anticipated. Fields should be laid out and lined. An adequate quantity of equipment should be
available so that standing and waiting for turns occurs seldom.
ORGANIZING TEAMS FOR EQUAL COMPETITION
A Team must have a designated team leader who is effective in implementing sport goals
and objectives. He must organize his team so that players have equal opportunity to maximum
activity.
PRACTICE CREATIVE GAMES TO IMPROVE SKILLS
A leader should create or make up creative games for his or her team. This is an excellent
supplement to the practice of sport skills and the result is usually a realistic game of the players’
own level. Creative games are not regarded as substitutes for main sports games, but they do
offer after a quick, convenient, and fun practice situation.
MODIFIED ACTIVITIES
Most of sports activities need modification to enable all players to derive enjoyment and
achieve success. The most important consideration is allowing the players to use and learn
proper movement patterns.
