9-St. Thomas the Apostle

Reflection Questions:
1. What did you feel as you were making your masterpiece?
At first, I’m very anxious because I don’t know what the outcome of my work will be, thus I calm my self and
organize my thoughts. Fortunately, I’m happy and satisfied with the outcome of my artwork it gives me a
sense of accomplishment.

2. Does your artwork visibly convey the characteristics or idea of Neoclassicism or Romanticism?
Yes, indeed it vividly depicts the characteristic of Romanticism like Glorification of nature, Awareness and
Acceptance of Emotions, Themes of Solitude.
Glorification of Nature:
Nature, in all its unbound glory, plays a huge role in Romanticism. Nature, sometimes seen as the opposite
of the rational, is a powerful symbol in work from this era. It gives personal, deep descriptions of nature and
its wild and powerful qualities.
Awareness and acceptance of Emotions:
A focus on emotion is a key characteristic of nearly all Romanticism, there is a feeling described in all
forms, including romantic and filial love, fear, sorrow, loneliness, and more. This focus on emotion offered a
counterpoint to the rational.
Themes of Solitude
It shows creative inspiration came from solitary exploration. They celebrated the feeling of being alone,
whether that meant loneliness or a much-needed quiet space to think and create.

3. How do you think your artwork illustrates the idea and the message of such issues you have
decided to draw?
I decided to choose the Eclipsed as my Art piece because as we all know Solar Eclipse is a natural
phenomenon in which a portion of the earth goes under the shadow of the moon, which partially or fully
blocks the sun’s rays from reaching the earth. Covid 19 pandemic gave us the feeling of uncertainty. There
is even a time when our Country is place under lockdown.

This leaves me with a lot of time on my hands during this period of quarantine, and a lot of time to think and
reflect on the ins and outs of this pandemic, from a philosophical/common-sense standpoint. I’ve been
thinking about our society, our responsibilities and habits, and what needs to change. I’ve also been
considering what this means for me and thinking about how I’ve been living my life recently.

In relation with my Art piece It symbolizes inspiration. Inspiration comes from within yourself. One must be
positive, good things happen. Sometimes, an eclipse is important in our lives to get a fresh start. Take it
positively, it might be a sign for a new beginning.
