DOMAIN:
Ball control is the technique through which a footballer manages to dominate the ball to direct it
to the place he wants. Every good player must be able to perform this technique correctly, for
which he needs to practice a lot and be tenacious, in addition to possessing two fundamental gifts:
sensitivity towards the ball and balance of the body.
If the footballer works both the short driving of the ball, that is, its control on the playing field, and
the rally, that is, its ability to keep the ball in the air, it will improve both virtues.
The balance requires the adaptation of the body to all the changes that it experiences with
movement, which means being able to go to one side while throwing the ball to the opposite,
waiting for the right moment to dribble in motion or hitting skillfully from an unusual position
CHARACTERISTICS:
The technique is the complete control of the ball with all the parts of the body allowed by the
regulations.
The technical foundations are actions through technical gestures aimed at using the ball, with the
aim of dominating the collective game. They look for an effective technical communication
between the players: The fundamentals to work on are: Passing, driving, dribbling, finishing.
Technical fundamentals are actions that are taught first and then trained, and are rarely presented
separately from each other. Most of the time partial movements and technical elements
intertwine
EXERCISES TO IMPROVE AND PRACTICE BALL CONTROL
In exercises aimed at improving ball control, the player must use both feet and not get used to
looking at the ball, or at least doing it for the shortest time possible. Some of them are explained
below:
1. Ball on the ground: the soccer player has to control the ball with his foot, keeping the
plant resting on it at all times. The entire weight of your body has to rest on your
supporting leg. The soccer player must jump continuously, alternating the foot that
controls the ball.
2. Balance on one leg: the player must roll the ball with the sole of the foot to the left and
right, and also to the front and back.
3. Ball between the two feet: the footballer has to spread his legs slightly, placing the ball
between them. Without moving from the site, he must perform jumps alternating
between one foot and the other to pass the ball from the right to the left and from the left
to the right.
4. Raise the ball with the instep: after carrying out this action, the player has to start a rally
without movement and with varied touches.
5. Rhythmic rally with the instep: the soccer player must perform this rally every time the
ball bounces on the ground. To do this you must use both feet.
6. Ball touches with both thighs: the player has to try that the ball does not fall to the ground
using this contact surface
7. Touches with different parts of the body: the footballer must carry out several individual
touches of the ball without moving from the place, using the feet, thighs, shoulders, head,
chest and knees. After five or six touches, he has to send the ball a distance of between
ten and fifteen meters in front of himself, performing a parabola. Right at that moment he
must run quickly towards the ball, trying not to bounce it on the ground or to only do it
once, and then continue tapping for a few seconds before performing another parable.
