How the Centrifugal Clutch
‘The centrifugal clutch transmits power by the frictional
contact of slippers, lined with a suitable friction
‘material, when pressed against the clutch shell by
centrifugal force due to the speed of rotation of the
supporting member. Thus the clutch consists of two.
distinct parts, the spider (or driving) member carrying
the slippers and the shell (or driven member) to which
may be attached pulleys, sprockets or other means of
transmitting the power. A centrifugal clutch will only
function when the spider is fixed to the driving
ember.

Current inthe circuit; the use of a centrifugal clutch
allows the motor to start under no load until it has
attained a predetermined speed after which the. load
is applied gradually and automatically. In this way there
isnoneed to use expensive starting equipment.
Works
Because there is no exaggerated starting load real
economies can be made, both as regards size of motor
and electrical installation. In practice it will also be
found that the absence of shockload very materially
reduces the need for msintenance on the machine
itse.
Three main types of centrifugal
clutches are available
1 CLUTCH COUPLING for connecting an electric
motor or other prime mover to the extension shaft
of a driven machine, reduction gear, or lineshott:
EXTENDED SLEEVE CLUTCH for attachment of
pulleys, chain sprockets or gear wheels by keying
them on to the sieeve.
PULLEY CLUTCH with the pulley forming an
integral part of the clutch shell. In such a case the
shell may be fitted with ball or plain bearings.M BMH Aree ok POWER Te ReAeN soe M les S lOmin

Clutch with brake drum
\With this clutch you can not only start your machine
gradually, but also stop it instantaneously whenever
necessary
