Exception: There was one officially produced Oxford White SVO in 1984 - the MAC Tools Car!
To clear up a question we receive frequently, the 1985.5 production figures are included in
the 1985 numbers.
SOURCES
The Total SVO Production numbers were published in the second edition of
The Turbo Times. The numbers were given to us on Ford SVO letterhead in early 1989.
The US Production Numbers were taken from articles found in editions of
The Turbo Times. The articles were written by Mr. Howard E. Payne, Design Manager -
North American Design, Ford Design Center.
In 1989, Howard became responsible for color and trim selection, including coordination
for all trucks and small/sport automobiles sold in North America. In addition, he was
charged with exterior color development for all Ford vehicles.
The Canadian and Export production numbers are NOT included in the table with
the color breakdown -- We are only reporting U.S. Production figures...
If we can find the Canadian figures broken down by color, we will post them for you
here.
It should also be noted that, at this point in time, there is no way to establish how many
white 85.5 SVOs had leather interiors and that sort of detail. The vital records are not
attainable as far as we understand. We will keep looking.
