ACTIVITY 2. Give your insights about the following questions. Explain your answer
comprehensively.

1. As a Filipino, what is your perspective about being maka-Diyos, Makabayan, maka-

Kalikasan and makabansa?
As a Filipino, my perspective about being makadiyos is that this trait shows the love
of someone for their Lord. It shows religious commitment, dedication, and passion in serving
the Lord. Makatao or Humane is the trait that shows compassion and benevolence towards
other people. Kindness and respect. Maka-kalikasan or Nature Lover is the trait that shows
the love and care of someone for the environment. Those who are maka-kalikasan preserves
and takes good care of the surroundings and they often help in maintaining the cleanliness of
the nature and they also take care of our Mother Earth. Makabansa or Patriotic is the trait that
shows the love for the country and its countrymen. It is protecting the country by following
rules and regulation, and being a role model to other citizens.
These traits are important to us because having or acquiring these traits is important
because these will help an individual become a better person. Not only it will benefit the
person acquiring the trait, but also the people surrounding that individual.

2. What can you say to those people who are physically present but mentally and spiritually
absent in their religion?
To those people who are physically present but mentally and spiritually absent in
their religion, all I can say is be patient with yourself. God is not forcing you to immediately
believe in Him, well it is a process. The fact that you all are physically present, that is a
simple effort to increase your spirituality. Just be patient because God always has a grace for
you to somehow nor someday be present mentally and spiritually next time. Being in a
religion doesn’t only mean that you need to be a religious person, it is also being consistent
son, re-recognition and not turning away from God so you’ll be satisfied with your life.
Being with Him is a process, guiding us in a right way He wants us to be – God’s Will.

3. Explain the following quotations.

a. “Tumulong ka sa ikabubuti ng iyong kakapwaan at paunlarin mo ang iyong
katarungang pangmadla. Di ka nabubuhay ng para sa iyo lamang ni para sa iyong
mga anak. Ikaw ay bahagi ng lipunang pinagkakautangan mo ng mga tiyak na
sagutin” -Manuel L. Quezon
 This means that we’re not just living for ourselves only. We still have our
duties and responsibilities in the society we stand in that we need to do and
accomplish. As part of the society, we have different roles and obligations that
we need to work out for a proper development. We need to work for the
society or simply done with our responsibilities in it in order to improve the
life of everyone that’s parts of it. If we help each other, we can have a
successful and meaningful life.
b. “There will never be real equality so long as one feels inferior or superior to another”
– Mahatma Gandhi
 This means that there is no equality. And I agree with that since we, humans
are not contented and satisfied with our nature of living. For example, we
want something and we got it. But we still crave for something that we will
possibly want, and then do a lot of ways to get it. The cycle continues and has
no ending. The quote says that there will never be equality for so long as one
feels inferior or superior to another, this person that for example is a superior
to others won’t just be satisfied with his/ her position or advantage to others.
The unsatisfactory feeling of this superior one will cause him/her crave for a
higher position. This makes the equality even more impossible nowadays.
This idea or concept makes the word equality impossible for today and for the
future.
c. “Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we
ought” – Pope John Paul II
 This quote that Pope John Paul II tells us that freedom is having the right to so
what we ought not the idea that we do what we like. This quote telling us that
we have the freedom to do the things we want to do, not dictated by other
people and the society we live in. Society teaches us this is equality. But it's
not freedom to have the opportunity to do anything you want. Society has
enslaved us to our conditions and our wishes. It perverted our sexual impulses.
It has assimilated our conscience to our emotions. It has reduced us to the
cross that Christ has given us. And the worst part of it that culture tells us that
this is democracy.
d. “Give fish to a man and he will have food for a day teach him how to fish and he shall
have food to eat throughout his lifetime.” – Chinese proverb
 This Chinese proverb tell us that Teaching an individual with a useful skill
can be more valuable in the long run than filling the need for them
temporarily, which is essentially the sense of this proverb. So, for example, if
you give a fish to a hungry man, his hunger will be fulfilled, but only for a
short time. If, instead, the man was taught how to fish, he could feed
whenever he was hungry. Ok, believing that he can catch a fish anytime he
wants to.

PART 2. Reflection Essay about the Topic.

Being a Filipino is one of the best blessings received from above. As I studied this
module, I learned how to be a good citizen of the country. The Philippines is one of the countries
with the largest number of Catholic Christians. We put God at the center of our lives and talk to
him through prayer. Our life and humanity are from God and with this, we have become a person
who appreciates each other's worth and special role in society. Our lives are important so it is our
duty to protect, respect and nurture the human life. In addition, the family is the inspiration and
strength of a person to move on with life so most of us appreciate it.
To be called human, we must respect the rights of everyone and his or her opinion.
Filipinos have many good behaviors that have made a huge impact on the world. One of these is
the resilience, unity and positiveness of Filipinos despite the time of tragedy. Filipinos are also
hospitable that’s why tourists from around the world likes to visit the country as Filipinos take
good care of them and making them comfortable and happy during their stay. Foremost among
these are love of self, neighbor and country, freedom, peace and justice.
Despite of all the issues our country is facing, we Filipinos still have the unity and
passion for everything. We can still express and show our love for the country by supporting the
government and obeying the laws. It is also about how we can be proud and fight for the country
especially as we wave and raise our national flag.
We have been given a great responsibility to care for and respect the environment so
there are various programs implemented by Filipinos to maintain order and beauty of the
environment. Even though today, some people forget it, there are still others who are very loving
around, especially the young people who are taught to learn how to protect and preserve mother
nature. From all the core values mentioned above, we learn it on our own, we live for it and take
it to our hearts. All of them must be used not only for ourselves, but also for the development of
our country.
The topic was so full of information that we can use in our everyday life. These quotes
are useful for our daily living. It will help us move or do something perfectly. It makes us aware
on something that we would want to do. These quotes also help us have a good and useful life,
why? Because it makes us informed in the way to help other people or be useful to others in
order to help build a successful community.
