Domestic Dogs
Domestic dogs are very cute and fun to play with Don’t you think? They
can bring lots of happiness and joy to you. But have you ever wondered
their history and how they were born? Let's find out!
About their ancestors
Dogs couldn’t have just popped out into the
world right? So let's talk about their
ancestors. The "Grey wolves" the grey wolves
were our ancestors enemy and are good
hunters and have a very strong bite and sniff
their prey over a mile away. These predators
live and hunt in a group called a pack and
cooperate and kill large preys.
How they became domesticated.
Some wolves that showed less aggression towards humans would be
allowed to go near their camps and receive left-overs. And as these
docile (Obedient/follows orders) wolves lived longer than the
aggressive wolves, their traits were passed on and breeding more tame
wolves. Humans found lots of uses for these Obedient/docile wolves.
They helped to hunt prey etc. They also guarded camps and warn the
humans about potential enemies approaching. Eventually they moved
into our homes becoming humanities first domesticated animal.
More about domesticated dogs
The first of these proto-dogs (first dogs to become friends with
humans) appeared around 33,000 years ago and looked similar with
their wild cousins. They were a bit smaller, had smaller teeth with a
smaller snout. There were short dogs, elongated dogs (dogs with a long
body), large dogs for protection/guarding, etc.
