Normal Sentence Pattern in English:

Simple Present:
1. True in the past, true in the present and also true in the future
2. Show a habit
I eat rice.
I am eating rice
Progressive:
1. To indicate present time, period of time
2. To indicate future time
I will go to Bandung tomorrow.
I am going to Bandung tomorrow.
SOME WORDS ARE ALWAYS IN SIMPLE FORM
Know, believe, hear, see, smell, wish, understand, hate, love, like, want, sound, have, need, appear, seem,
taste, own
Choose the correct determiner:

Simple present or present progressive

Simple past:

Present Perfect and simple past

Pronouns
Subject pronouns: I, you, he, she, it, we, they
- occur in the subject position: I am going to the store.
- or after the verb be: It was she who called you.
Complement pronouns: me, you, him, her, it, us, them
They called us on the phone.
Possessive adjectives: my, your, his, her, its, our, their
The cat has injured its foot.
Possessive pronouns: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs
Mine = my + noun. This is my book. It is mine.
Reflexive pronouns: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself,
ourselves, themselves. It is usually follow the verb and indicates
that the subject is both giving and receiving the action.
John bought him a new car. (him = another person)
John bought himself a new car. (himself = John)

Example:
Athens and Sparta were the two most advanced Greek cities
of the Hellenic period (750-338 B.C). Both had the city-state type
of government, and both took slaves from the peoples they
