ATTAINING THE UTOPIAN WORLD
It is good to hear living in a perfect, peaceful and abundant world where we can attain
happiness and prosperity, a place where no war and misunderstandings or a place where
everybody has equal opportunities and rights. Unfortunately, real world cannot achieve such
ideas for the fact that we are living in diverse societies, governed by different state of minds and
filled with distinct ideologies. Utopian state or the ideal state is impossible for us to achieve
considering that there are hindrances to reach it and we are already confined into a cruel and
vicious type of world and there’s no escape for that. Hence, the main thing about it is on how we
would be able to get rid of those in order to be like Utopia. The answer is “NO”, we cannot get
rid of those and we cannot be Utopia since there is no perfection in this world. Ambitioning a
perfect society for an imperfect race will only lead to failure and cannot be realized no matter
how hard we try. This topic is still really debatable even as of this moment if Utopia really a
place of ideal living. Even great Philosophers are not into for a lot of reasons.
God gave humans with immense mind and emotions for us to make our own decisions in life
and express our thoughts and feelings. In other words, we are not born to be controlled with
someone else that is why we contradict or agree on something. And speaking in Utopia, their
people do not disagree on the decisions of their leaders because they believe that whatever the
decisions and provisions of their authorities are also for their own good. But in real world, people
have different perspectives and opinions, for instance, government will implement a certain law,
people have always has to say even if it is good for them because human as we are have
freewill.
Utopian state cannot be achieved in real world since it did not provide privacy to one another,
people are like brothers and sisters in that state they often come and go to everyone’s houses
even if they are not blood related, in other words there is no sense of ownership in that state.
But in the real world, people are not like that we want to have privacy and property that we can
exclusively use for our own.
Relating the wealth, Utopians are so much admirable for they don’t give worth nor importance to
precious minerals we actually desired. It is a luxurious thing for us believing that attaining
happiness is through those jewels. It is an eye opener for us on why used to make worth with
those dazzling stuffs to achieve happiness which we can “gazed upon suns and stars as how
utopians does”? And with it we will simply experience happiness and contentment in life. But
humans can never be like that for the fact that we are made of greed, whether we like it or not
we want to have more, we are not satisfied to simple things in life. So Utopia is a big no.
Utopians social relations ideally, are an equitable process of their kind of living on how they
work, rest, do luxurious things adequately. They gave due respect to their elders , and as much
they gave justice and working for common good like everyone is attach to each other. In
contrast, current state which human nature doesn’t seek for common good besides we tend to
concentrate and focus for our own advantages disregarding the people whom surrounded us.
We have this attitude in the real world wherein we will try everything to progress and be on the
top even if there are people behind us that will fall. And sometimes, the most hurtful feelings
about it, is that we will not find it somewhere else but to our own companions and families. We
have this crab mentality wherein we tend to forget the core of being together for a long time; we
suppress the real essence of family most especially when it talks about money. We know that
money is one of the ways for us to survived here in this world but because also of this thing, we
can hurt someone and even kill someone. Money is not a sin and is not the root of all evil but
the love of money does. So it’s really different in Utopian State for they have no money because
everything is given to them which are very impossible to attain here in our real world scenario
because everything here is driven by money.
Also, human nature are contaminated into self-centeredness we demand a lot for ourselves not
thinking the goodness of others will be the goodness of yours. We are so focused on loving
ourselves that sometimes result to us being so narcissist. Because of this over self-esteem we
sometimes forget that the love for others is also important most especially right now that we are
living in a toxic world. And this may be the main reason why we human struggles to attain
Utopian state due to self- centeredness wherein different perspectives develop.
In Utopia, they have no taverns or restaurants for them to hang out with their friends to avoid
planning of conspiracy against the government but here in real world it is okay to chill out in
beer houses or other form of amusements to relieve our stress and to make friends. Besides,
idleness has no grounds in their land since they are making out of their time to do fruitful
activities just to not waste their precious time such as gardening, singing, dancing, working, etc.
But in real world that is impossible to happen since we have freedom to do whatever we want so
ideal state is not feasible anymore. And it is really a reality that not all but some of us are very
lazy and we loved idleness sometimes. Because through being idle sometimes, we manage to
think of more ways on how to solve bigger problems in life and we can also make it as an
avenue for us to be revived somehow if we have big burdens.
Utopia attained equal economic status with regards to its people. There’s no rich or poor in the
state since the wealth of the country has distributed equally unlike to the real world, poor
become poorer and rich become richer. Massive corruption has been exercising in different
nations. Most leaders from all over the world take advantage of their position and power to
protect their interests and use it to manipulate people that they do their job well but in contrast
they just milking their nation leaving the populace hungry and poor. In addition, Utopian council
does not oppose and conclude a matter even if it is very serious decision for the state but in real
world, whatever laws the government has to imply it will undergone many series of arguments
and voting of legislators before it will be signed by the president just to ensure that it is
constitutional and beneficial to everyone.
In Utopian state they remove some of the children of a more fruitful couple to any other family
that does not abound so much in them. Maybe in their state it is applicable but here in the real
world it’s not, because we value family relationship. There are some families here with a 10-20
members of household but they don’t want to give any children that exceeds to their family
because they are a blessings from God but in Utopia it is a law to give out child if you have
reach the recommended number of children to other families.
In terms of happiness, Utopians believe that it can be achieved through listening music, do
gardening, giving moral to their young ones. They also become happy by drinking and eating
and just by seeing the beauty of nature and loving it. For them, happiness will make them feel
complete. But it’s so opposite here in the real world, because we can seek happiness even in
our own little ways, we can find happiness to our best of friends, to our families and most
importantly, happiness can be found within ourselves. But there are distinctions between
happiness and true happiness. We can have all the means to be happy here in the real world
but for us it takes time to search this what we called “true happiness” and that is what’s lacking
in Utopian state,
because of their status of being a perfect state, they are that satisfied with their lives so they
cannot ask for more that they don’t even dream for a bigger positions for themselves so that
they can live in a different levels of their lives and because all of the people living in Utopia has
an equal privilege, rights and status in life.
Here in the real world, we chase every moment just to reach our dreams because we have this
mentality that once we gain whatever we want, we will attain the true happiness because we
know how many trials and tears we put in just to reach our goals in life. The problem with
Utopians is that they are like uncivilized society because they are being shackled to one place
with no advancement in terms of technology, ideas, science, etc., so eventually they will be left
behind because they think that they are perfect.
Here in the real world scenario, there is no satisfaction in life, we always want new, revisions,
updates, and trends. And for us, that’s a good thing always to be updated and to be in on the
trends of this world and for us not to be left behind. As what we all know that the world is
evolving so we must adopt these changes for the betterment of our lives because change is
constant so we must be prepared always for that change, would that be a big or a small thing,
so long as we have the heart to embrace every colorful changes of our lives here in our modern
world, we will be as beautiful as butterfly from it’s natural transformation called
“metamorphosis”.
Again, Utopia can’t be attained in the real world because perfection is not a statement on Earth,
it is in Heaven. That’s the only place where we can find no worries and sadness and heaven is
the place where we can say that’s perfect enough to live-in and of without any defect and that
for us is the ideal way of living. The view that every human are unflawed will only result to bigger
mess when an unblemished civilization is plotted for a corrupted well-being. There’s no such
thing as a best way of living same as with Utopia because here in our real world, we are diverse
in our own special way. We composed of different ages, different culture, different genders,
different religions and different way of managing ourselves. Therefore, we can say that, there is
no best society; it is only a matter of how we appreciate what we have right now because at the
end of the day what matters most is not perfection but progress.
