ATTENDANCE

Employee responsibility
 Employees access the building (Head Office) using a fingerprint scanner. This is to ensure
that there accurate attendance records and is also a requirement from the
 Granting access using your fingerprints for another employee or visitor is not allowed.

DRESS CODE
Employee responsibility
 Monday to Thursday Formal dress, collar shirt and formal shoes.
 Shorts, leggings, miniskirts, revealing tops/blouses, torn jeans as well as dirty scruffy
takkies, are not allowed on any day of the week including dress down days.

WORK AREA
Employee responsibility
 All personal belongings to be always locked away.
 No eating is permitted at workstations. Make use of the pause area
 Under no circumstances are you allowed to sit on any desks
 No Prestik may be used on walls or partitions
 No sleeping at your work station under any circumstances

PHONE/MOBILE DEVICE/INTERNET USAGE


Employee responsibility
 No external devices may be inserted into company equipment
 The phones is strictly for work purposes; No personal calls are to be made from the
phones, should you need to make a personal call please get permission to use your
manager’s line.

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY


Employee responsibility
 Being at work is a contractual requirement. If you are unable to be at work, you will be
required to inform your line manager telephonically an hour before the start of the day or
shift.
 Punctuality at work is always expected and your performance is directly linked to this.

NOISE/LOITERING/SELLING/LENDING
Employee responsibility
 The Laboratory and offices are professional environments, therefore noise levels are kept
at a minimum in the contact centre
 Avoid unnecessary loitering in the office
 Socialising can be done outside, or at any of the pause areas

SMOKING
Employee responsibility
 Smoking is only allowed during assigned tea and lunch breaks
 Per legislation, smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking areas available
 If you do not comply with the smoking policies, the relevant disciplinary action will be taken
against you

ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE


Employee Responsibility
 The use of alcohol and narcotics during working hours will not be tolerated
 Possession of alcohol or drugs in the workplace is prohibited
 The company reserves the right to perform random drug and alcohol testing
 Should you be found to be in possession of or under the influence of drugs and
alcohol, this will be grounds for immediate dismissal

SECURITY
Employee responsibility
 Cameras are in the building. CCTV footage may only be requested by management

THEFT
 All theft will be reported to the SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICES
 Inform your manager immediately if you are a victim of personal theft or if you notice any
apparent theft
 Firearms or any other dangerous weapons are strictly prohibited from being allowed onto
the premises
 The company does NOT accept responsibility for securing of firearms or any weapons on
site
 The company does NOT accept liability for the loss of personal belongings under any
circumstances
 Any sign of break in or attempted break in should be reported immediately to management
 Any damage to property such as vandalism should be reported to management
immediately

GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING

Employee responsibility

 Please keep the office environment clean and safe


 Keep your work area tidy
 Keep doorways, passages, sprinklers and access to emergency equipment clear and
unobstructed always
 Report any damage to the building – Unprotected electrical cables, defective lights or other
equipment to your line manager
 Toilets must always be kept clean and tidy
 Kitchens, canteen, meeting rooms and pause areas must always be kept clean and tidy
 The onus is on you to keep these facilities in an excellent condition and YOU must leave it
in the same condition you would like to find it

PROFFESSIONALISM
Employee Responsibility
 Employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
 Respect for colleagues, managers and clients is of utmost importance, employees should
refrain from behaviour that may make others feel uncomfortable
 Workplace dating or romantic relationships is discouraged, as this could interfere with any
employee's professionalism
 Violence, intimidation and incitement will not be tolerated, and incidences will be dealt with
according to the Disciplinary Code

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY


Employee responsibility
ACCORDING TO THE COMPENSATION FOR OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES AND DISEASES ACT
130 OF 1993, OCCUPATIONAL HEAQLTH AND SAFETY ACT 85 OF 1993, GENERAL
ADMINISTRATION REGULATIONS SECTION 8, IT IS THE LEGAL RESPONSIBLILITY FOR ALL
EMPLOYEES TO REPORT ANY INJURIES OR DISEASE IN THE WORKPLACE

 Tempering with fire equipment is a criminal offence and will be treated as such
 Any wilful fire alarm activations will be viewed in a very serious light and will be treated as
such
 It is important to note that all occupational health and safety incidents, accidents and
injuries that occur in the workplace are reported as soon as possible
 If you become injured on duty you must report the injury to your supervisor/manager and
Health & Safety Representative in your area

CLEAN DESK POLICY


Employee responsibility
The company has aligned to Protection of people’s information which requires all sensitive
information to be protected

 Keep your desk free of non-essential documents


 Always lock your desktop or log out of your computer when not in use.

Any individual that does not adhere to the workplace code of conduct will be subject to further
disciplinary action.
