Lizardo, Mark Wendell I. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University. Institute of AgriculturalAnd
Biosystems Engineering, North La Union Campus, Sapilang Bacnotan, La Union 2020. “Guava Leaves
(Psidium guajava), Lemon (Citrus), and Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon Citratus) for Tea”
This study was conducted to the effectiveness of Guava Leaves (Psidium guajava), Lemon (Citrus), and
Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon Citratus) for Tea product. The evaluation was conducted with help of 5
respondents from Brgy. Bimangga Tagudin Ilocos Sur (Farmers)
The satisfied tool used in this study was SPSS, comparing Guava Leaves (Psidium guajava), Lemon
(Citrus), and Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon Citratus) for Tea.
Objectives:
To help individuals who are addicted to tea and the guava leaves are not wasted.
Introduction:
Guava leaves have many anti-inflammatory properties and also contain vitamin C, vitamin B,
antioxidants, and tannins. Guava is a tree that grows in Central and South America. The fruit is
commonly eaten fresh or made into beverages, jams, and other foods. Various parts of the plant,
including the leaf and the fruit, are used as medicine. People use guava leaf for stomach and intestinal
conditions, pain, diabetes, and wound healing.
The regular drinking of Guava Leaf Tea with every meal helps pre-diabetic and diabetic patients.
Japan has approved guava leaf tea for specified health uses to aid in the treatment and prevention of
diabetes. In fact, Japan has conducted several clinical trials that support guava tea’s anti-diabetic
properties; drinking the tea frequently helped lower blood glucose (after-eating) Components in the tea
hinder the absorption of two types of sugars, maltose, and sucrose, thus helping to control blood sugar
levels after eating. Two studies were performed to explain the effects (both published in (‘Nutrition &
Metabolism’).
In the first study, the patients drank guava leaf tea after eating white rice. They showed
decreases in blood sugar levels that were greater after 30 minutes, 90 minutes and 120 minutes. The
same study participants then drank only hot water after eating white rice again and showed no benefits.
Lemons contain a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fiber, and plant compounds that give them
a number of health benefits. Lemons may aid weight loss and reduce your risk of heart disease,
anemia, kidney stones, digestive issues, and cancer.
The fruit, juice, and peel are used to make medicine. Lemon is used to treat scurvy, a condition
caused by not having enough vitamin C. Lemon is also used for the common cold and flu, H1N1 (swine)
flu, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), Meniere's disease, stomach upset and vomiting from pregnancy,
and kidney stones.
The leaves and the oil are used to make medicine. Lemongrass is used for treating digestive tract
spasms, stomachache, high blood pressure, convulsions, pain, vomiting, cough, achy joints
(rheumatism), fever, the common cold, and exhaustion. It is also used to kill germs.
And as a future researcher I would like to help especially our farmers and friend who is addicted
to coffee. Then I come up to study this investigatory project Guava Leaves (Psidium guajava), Lemon
(Citrus), and Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon Citratus) for Tea
The combination of Guava Leaves (Psidium guajava), Lemon (Citrus), and Lemon Grass
