According to today’s motion, Homework should be banned. We are from the affirmative
team agree with this motion, because of some arguments.
1. The first, homework can reduce the negative impact on the student’s health.
When students arrive home from school they usually want to relax. However, they have to
spend a couple of hours on homework. Homework causes stress in many students.
Homework takes time, and it keeps students up late at night getting the work done.
More importantly, stress also could lead to other mental health problems such as
depression.
Therefore, I strongly believe that homework should be banned because it causes stress and
other mental health problems.
2. Secondly, Homework makes students late for sleep and prevents students from
concentrating in classes.
After a full day of learning in class, students can become burn out if they have too stay up
late competing homework.
Homework takes time, and it keeps students up late at night getting the work done. The loss
of sleep makes it hard to concentrate during class because students are so tired.
I once stayed up until midnight and wound up very tired when morning arrived. It was hard
to focus on my lessons. As a student, I think sleep is more important than doing homework.
Students study during the day at schools and academies, so there is no reason that we have
to get homework.
According to sleep expert Dr. Mary Carskadon, professor of psychiatry at brown university,
too much homework can causes sleep deprivation.
So, Lack of sleep also prevents students from concentrating in classes.
Therefore, I strongly believe that homework should be banned. Because students are unable
to concentrate in class, as well as health problems and sleep deprivation.
3. The third, students receive too much homework every semester and they are left with
very little time for themselves.
They are experiencing social problems because they are always struggling to get their school
chores done and don’t spend much time with their friends and their family. Of course, many
students are forced to neglect the love of their life because they are constantly being
pressed to do their homework on time.
4. The fourth, homework takes up a lot of time and it prevents students from learning
other skills.
If students do not have homework, they would have more times to learn other skills, for
example they could learn how to swim, play an instrument, doing creative things art or even
learn another language.
Therefore, I fundamentaly believe, that homework should be banned because students
need to have time to learn other skills.
So, I still stand by my argument that homework should be banned. Thank you!
My name is Sakinah Mawaddah as the second speaker.
We are from the affirmative team agree with this motion, Homework should be banned.
because :
1. The first, in finlandia, school don’t give homework for students.
Different from the education system in other countries, the truth is that there is nearly no
homework in the country with one of the top education systems in the world.
Finnish people believe that besides homework, there are many more things that can
improve child’s performance in school, such as having dinner with their families, exercising
or getting a good night’s sleep.
2. The secondly, Homework encourages copying and cheating
Homework does little to develop good study skills. First off, many children, after a long and
hard school day, end up plagiarizing off of either another student’s work or a professional
manuscript. With the Internet, copying has just been made easier. All a student has to do is
copy and paste a few paragraphs onto a blank word document and they have their report.
Therefore, homework should be banned due to these unavoidable consequences that occur
with it.
3. The third, Homework provides no real benefit
Teacher believe that the more homework they give, the faster students will improve and
remember what they have learned.
However, that is not the case. Usually the more homework students get, the less they want
to engage in learning. This makes homework a devil pushing students into a corner of stress,
not a tool for encouraging them to learn more.
Spending too much time on homework is linked to a decrease in academic performance.
Althought homework might be a big factor in getting higher grades, it mostly has
diminishing returns.
4. The fourth, Homework eats up time that should be used doing other more productive
things.
Homework takes up a lot of time, usually enough to push off many extracurricular a student
might want to do. Being young is not just about doing schoolwork. It should also about
being physically active, exploring the environment through play, doing creative things like
music and art, and playing a part in the community. It is also important for young people to
build bonds with others, especially family and friends, but homework often squeezes the
time available for all these things.

We are from the affirmative team agree with this motion, Homework should be banned.
because :
1. The first, Down Time at Home
Two hours of homework is a punishment after sitting eight hours in class. Going outside,
dedicating time to friends, attending hobby clubs, helping parents, and, yes, watching TV
and playing games make kids feel kids. Teachers should provide them with more free time.
2. The secondly, According to a study Stanford university, fifty-six percent of students
considered homework a primary source of stress.
Too much homework can result in lack of sleep, headaches, exhaustion and weight loss.
Excessive homework can also result in poor eating habits, with families choosing fast food as
a faster alternative.
3. The third, Negative Impact on Tests
Should schools ban homework to allow obtaining better grades on the exams? The answer is
yes. While students focus on homework assignments, they risk failing to pass their
examinations well. It appears that complicated, lengthy assignments are distractions like
mobile devices, video games, television, friends, home duties, and other.
4. The fourth, A homework ban would see students work on their favorite topics.
They would be able to choose their own assignments. Of course, teachers would still grade
them, but students would get the chance to pick what they want to talk about And what
they want to write on.
5. The fifth, Many students don’t have an easy life outside the classroom.
It’s very difficult for them to do their homework at home in many cases. Some students
even have to work, at least part time, to support themselves throughout the school year.
To conclude, we are from the affirmative team believe and agree that homework should be
banned. Because it could stress and sleep deprivation and due to the lack of sleep students,
could lead to health related problems.
That aside, if there is no homework, students could use that time to spend with their family,
to learn other skills like swimming or learn how to play instruments.
Overall, we still stand by our argument that homework should be banned. Thank You !
