HERBAL MEDICINE PREPARATION (DECOCTION)


DEFINITION:
A procedure of mashing method in which portions of a plant is boiled, and and then
strained to remove the chemicals and other residues in it.
PURPOSE:
To extract the nutrients from the roots, stems, and plants by boiling.
EQUIPMENT:
Cooking pot, Bowl, Glasses or Container, Portable Stove, Strainer

CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE, DURING and AFTER THE PROCEDURE:


The plants that being used must be clean and no infestations
Do not overboil the decoction process
Drink the herbal drink when it is not too hot

THINGS TO DOCUMENT AFTER THE PROCEDURE:


Document the procedure done, amount of the client consumed and any assessment
findings.
