About the University
Upgrading the erstwhile Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Regional Center at Meerpur, Rewari
established in the year 1988 by M.D. University, Rohtak, the Haryana State Government
established Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari as a state university w.e.f. 07.09.2013 under
Haryana Government Act 29 of 2013. The University is committed to work vigorously for the all-
round personality development of students by making them not just outstanding professionals but
also good individuals with ingrained human values. The university campus is situated in village
Meerpur at a distance of about 10 km from district headquarter of Rewari, about 300 km from
Chandigarh and about 70 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Presently the
university offers 39 Post Graduate and Ph,D, programs in various departments and faculties.
About the Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics came into existence when Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Regional
Center at Meerpur, Rewari (Haryana) was established in the year 1988 by M.D. University, Rohtak
to provide some post graduate programs in various departments including M.Sc. Mathematics.
Presently, the department of Mathematics offers M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics with
Computer Science and Ph.D. programs. The faculty members of the department are actively
engaged in teaching, research and administration. The fields of specialization are Algebra, Coding
Theory, Number Theory, Graph Theory, Inventory Control Theory, Fixed point Theory, Fluid
Dynamics, Operation Research and Cosmology.
About the Workshop
Python is an area of immense interest in both industry and academia. With the recent
advances in data science, deep learning and the new avatar of artificial intelligence, python
is being used practically in every domain. It is natural that engineering students from several
disciplines are keen to learn python. This workshop addresses the needs of students, faculty
and researchers who wish to learn python for their own needs and wish to begin or enhance
their career along with the pace of the era. Specific topics covered in this 5-days’ workshop
include: basics of language, conditional and functional construct, object-oriented
programming concepts and finally the application of python in machine learning and deep
learning.
Who should attend the Workshop
This workshop on python is for beginners. So no prior knowledge of python or any other
programming is compulsory. Python finds applications in all disciplines. So students,
teachers and researchers from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
