Practical Task 3D Printing

The document provides instructions for a 3D printing practical task assignment for a mechanical engineering course. Students must (1) design a simple 3D prototype using reverse engineering and sustainability considerations, modeling it in Inventor software. (2) Export the design as an .stl file and use 3D software to convert it for printing on a Winbo 3D printer, running a printing simulation first. (3) Produce and submit a complete report on the project following a specified format. The assignment aims to help students achieve learning outcomes related to 3D modeling and design for the environment.

Topic:
T4 Reverse Engineering
T5 Introduction to 3D Printing Technology
Course Learning Outcome:
CLO 3 Buid a part or product in 3D modelling based on project design.
CLO 4 Adopt design regarding to the environment and sustainability
Domain Taxonomy (Dominant)
Basic Proficiency. This is the intermediate stage in learning a complex skill.Learned responses have become
P4
habitual and the movements can be performed with some confidence and proficiency.
Display behavior consistent with a single belief or attitude in situations where one is neither forced or asked
A3
to comply. One is expected to demonstrate a preference or display a high degree of certainty and conviction

Answer all questions:

1. Design a simple 3D prototype project by employing reverse engineering method in your

design consideration with environmental and sustainability process.
2. The design must be modelled in Inventor software and exported as a.stl file. The design
box's maximum dimensions are 70mm x 70mm x 70 mm.
3. Execute the interface design by using 3D software to convert from .stl file to Winbo 3D
printer to produce 3D part. Students are required to perform the printing simulation
before start to print the 3D design part.
4. Produce and submit a complete report with format below;
i. Title project:
ii. Introduction
iii. Literature review
iv. Methodology
v. Disscussion / Finding
vi. Recommendation & Conclusion
vii. Design
viii. Referencess
