2as Exam Scei Energy Resources

The document is an exam for a 2nd year secondary school class testing students' understanding of energy resources. It contains two parts: reading comprehension questions about renewable and non-renewable energy resources, and a written expression section asking students to write a paragraph about pollution and measures to protect the environment, and a composition of no more than 80 words on how to impose and spread peace in conflict areas. Renewable resources like solar and wind can be replenished naturally, while non-renewables like fossil fuels cannot be replaced at a fast enough rate. Fossil fuels are a main energy source but contribute to global warming and climate change. Communities need sustainable energy plans to manage both types of resources.

First Term Test

Energy resources are all forms of fuels used in the modern world, either for heating, generation of
electrical energy, transportation, or for other forms of energy conversion processes. There are two common
types of energy resources: renewable, non-renewable .
Renewable resources are those resources that can be replenished or renewed naturally over short period of
time. For example : air, water, wind, solar energy … etc. Renewable resources can be easily renewed by nature.
They do not release pollutants into the atmosphere. So, they provide a cleaner and healthier environment.
Sources of renewable energy are found everywhere in the world and cannot be depleted.
Nonrenewable energy resources (also called a finite resource) are resource that does not renew
themselves at a sufficient rate for sustainable economic extraction in meaningful human time frames. At
present, the main energy source used by humans is nonrenewable fossil fuels. The continual use of fossil
fuels at the current rate is believed to increase global warming, cause more severe climate change and so
damage the environment.
In the future, Communities will need to identity the energy resources in their area and develop
sustainable energy plans because both energy resources, non-renewable and renewable, need to be carefully
managed.
