Child’s Name or Description: Boy with red and black shirt
Age Group: Infant
Description of Location/Setting: In a playroom
Anecdotal Record:
The boy in the red shirt begins shaking his toy and goes to a woman. He also is
making lots of noise such as groaning and mumbling. He bangs things together and
looks at all of the noises he is making. He continues to crawl back and forth between one
female to another, smiling the majority of the time. in the room while grabbing things on
the way sometimes and playing with them (shaking or throwing). The little boy wearing
the red shirt is seen banging on a tin can and feeling a lot of the things around himself
such as a crib looking thing in front of him. He rubs his toys against the wall, is smiling.
He begins crawling around to the left of him, then throws and grabs stuff. He also puts
the toys in his mouth. He goes up to a window in between another baby and slightly
pushes him to make his way through.
Evaluation:
Physical: The boy is able to hold his head up high while crawling around as well as
shaking his toys around and putting them in his mouth. He also can stand but needs
assistance as he holds on to the women for support, we can assume he is around 6-9
months old.
Cognitive: The boy shakes and throws his toys, he also puts them into his mouth. These
characteristics point to him being about 6 months old. He looks around and shows
curiosity of the things around him. He also makes loud gurgling noises and uses his
voice to express pleasure and happiness. He moves his eyes to the sounds of things
which are all important characteristics of a 6-9 month infant.
Social-emotional: The boy is recognizing the faces of the two women in the room, in the
video he is seen going back and forth between the two so we can assume he feels
comfortable around them. He also is able to give smiles and laughs when playing,
showing he is meeting his developmental milestones. He was showing his
excitement/happiness by waving his arms around.

Child’s Name or Description: Boy in blue shirt
Age Group: Toddler
Description of Location/Setting: Child care center
Anecdotal Record:
The little boy in the blue shirt is climbing a slide and then runs to play with the girl
playing with a toy car and something that the car goes on. He looks at the toys around
him and explores them using his hands. He continues to play with the kids and toys
around him. He throws his hands around/flails them. He stands and walks around to go
to another toy that another child is playing with, they play side by side but not together.
He follows noises with his eyes. He again throws his arms around and makes gurgling
noises. He looks around to the sounds around him and makes little gurgling noises and
smiles at the camera.
Evaluation:
Physical: The boy is able to walk and run from place to place (toy to toy) and can pull and
carry toys while walking. In the beginning of the video he is seen climbing the slide in the
beginning of the video. He is meeting his physical developmental milestones.
Cognitive: While playing he was able to understand the process of the car going down
the toy thing. He can also use two hands while playing. He is using his senses to learn by
touching and hearing the sounds of the things around him
Social Emotional: The boy goes up to other kids and can calmly play with them (or side
by side with them, did not really interact with them). He is able to share and does not fuss
when the child grabs the toys he is playing with. He is eager to explore, he goes from
place to place and wants to learn more about the things around him. I noticed that he
looks around and is curious about the loud noises around him, or he will hear an adult's
voice and listen. At the end of the video he looks at the person recording and smiles at
them which can show he can reciprocate relationships.
Child’s Name or Description: Boy in the red shirt
Age Group: Preschool
Description of Location/Setting: Preschool
Anecdotal Record:
Four preschoolers begin to play with a water and sand table (sensory table). The
boy in the red shirt is using a funnel and a long tube. HE watches as the little beads
(whatever is in the sensory table) goes through the funnel and the tube that are
connected. He also has a measuring cup looking toy and fills it with the beads. He pours
that into another container and fills the measuring cup again then pours it in the other
cup again. He pats the cup down with the measuring tool to make it flat. He continues to
scoop and fill the cup although it is full. It then overflows and he pours it out. He walks
away from the table after a little girl yells at him and goes “hey!”.
Evaluation:
Physical: A physical characteristic that preschoolers have include being able to pour
their own food, which the boy in the red shirt shows he is able to do by pouring the
measuring cup full of beads into the other cup.
Cognitive: He pats down the cup with the bottom of the measuring cup trying to even it
out. He was able to approach the unevenness on the top of the cup with a solution.
Social Emotional: As preschoolers they begin to cooperate with other kids as they play.
The boy in the red shirt is seen playing with three other children and they were able to
play together well. Although it was more side by side play they were still able to
cooperate by sharing the same sensory table.
Child’s Name or Description: Girl with pink shirt and silver headband (Elle)
Age Group: School age
Description of Location/Setting: Kindergarten classroom
Anecdotal Record:
The children are learning about decomposing (taking a number and finding out the
number of ways to get that number). Elle gets called on to answer a question about how
many times can you decompose 3. She replies saying “That we can decompose that to
four and that it’s kind of like a pattern because its not in the exact number. Like one’s
two, two’s three, three has four and I think five is gonna be six”, talking about the amount
of times we can decompose it. The teacher replies that she is making a prediction for
today. They then go to this segment where they are watching a “movie”, doing a visual
representation of the decomposing idea. Elle was correct in her prediction.
Evaluation:
Physical: School-aged children progress in their motor skills, in the video Elle was able
to raise her hand and do thumbs up and clap her hands.
Cognitive: Elle was able to find a pattern in the math decomposing lesson. She saw that 1
had 2 ways, 2 and 3 ways, 3 had 4 ways and so on. She was able to predict the outcome.
Social Emotional: The children seemed eager to learn, Elle in specific was participating
and talking to her friends when appropriate. She was able to be independent by leading
the group of kids to a section.
