Introduction
In this research we will study the use of simple past tense and sentences with
adjectives.
Activity # 2
Research.
Settlement:
Write ten sentences with the following adjectives (USE THE PAST TENSE FORM).
ADJECTIVES: alone, angry, best, easy, pretty, quick, special, strong, wonderful, worst.
Definition. Simple Past – (Simple Past Tense)
The simple past is usedto describe actions that have passed previously which have
already ended, it is a verb tense. For example;
She played in her house.
he played baseball yesterday
Here we see its conjugation affirmative form, negative form, interrogative form

In the negative and interrogative form the Did is used as an auxiliary which is the past form of
the verb "TO DO" and in its infinitive form accompanies the main verb. You can use the
contracted form of Did not or DIDN'T in denials.
In the simple past, when expressing a sentence, it bears no relation to the present. As
we see in the following examples:
He lent me a book.
She lost the keys.
To indicate the time more accurately it is also possible to indicate the moment at which
the action takes place:
They watched the movie last night.
Yesterday we went to Paris.
We must distinguish two types of verbs to form a sentence in the past tense the
REGULAR VERBS and IRREGULAR VERBS.
In the first case they form their Simple Past by adding the ED ending to the infinitive,
while the irregular ones receive that name for not following a certain pattern and in this
case, they must be studied individually.
Formulate the Simple Past
Add -ed for regular verbs to the root form of the verb (or just -d if the root form already
ends in an e):
Type-Typed Push-Pushed
Listen-Listened Love-Loved
Things get more complicated for irregular verbs. The simple past tense of some
irregular verbs looks exactly like the root form:
Put-Put Set-Set
Cut-Cut Cost-Cost
The simple past forms are more erratic, for other irregular verbs, including the verb to
be
See-Saw Go-Went
Build-Built Do-Did
The good news is that verbs in the simple past tense (except for the verb to be) don’t
need to agree in number with their subjects.
Sentences
She has been alone in the island house for several years.
Christhian was angry.
They were best friends during school.
The éxamen was easy.
Joseph's girlfriend was pretty.
Working with the supervisor was quick and early termination.
Your birthday was very special.
He was the strongest man.
It was a wonderful job in the decoration of the bedroom.
Get the worst grade on the exam.
Conclusion
In conclusion we can say that the "simple past" is used to talk about an action
that concluded in a time prior to the current one. Duration is not relevant. The
time in which the action is situated can be the recent past or a distant past.
