COMPANY PROFILE

LETTER FROM THE FOUNDERS

Scientific and technological progress in our modern days has become one of the most
important factors that govern the prosperity and sound economic development of any
country, stabilizing its social structure and safeguarding its economic independence
and national wealth from domination and abuse.

During our professional practice as engineers in the Arab World, we became aware of
the scarcity of national consulting engineering firms that measure up to high
international standards, and can undertake the much needed technical studies
in the fields of: Architecture; Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and other
engineering areas.

Conversely, the Arab World is a knowledge source of highly qualified manpower such
as architects, engineers and technicians graduated from the best Arab and Foreign
Universities; thus in 1959 Consolidated Engineering Company was founded to
provide these highly qualified specialists with the adequate opportunity to apply
their know-how in the development and service of their countries.

Based on the principles we have adopted, and on the support and appreciation we
have so far received in Lebanon and the rest of the Arab World, we are full of
confidence that our organization will continue to develop and grow enabling us to
achieve our national professional aspirations.

KHATIB & ALAMI - LETTERS FROM THE FOUNDERS

1
HISTORY

K&A was established in Feb 1964 by founders (Prof. Mounir Khatib and Dr. Zuheir Alami)
who had a vision. This vision was to create a large and leading international company.
The founders believed hard work would make this a reality and wanted to leave a legacy
for future generations of professionals. Today K&A is a success story built on shared
values and ambition. World-renowned and recognized for excellence in the industry, K&A
has grown substantially over the years. Starting as an architecture firm, K&A diversified,
constantly following the market. For almost half a century, K&A has been reinforcing its
international presence, expanding its in-house expertise and enlarging its scope of
consultancy services.

Geographical Expansion
From modest beginnings in Lebanon, K&A is now present in many geographical locations.
By 1980 we were operating not just in Lebanon but also in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Just 10
years later we extended our reach to all the Gulf and Arab countries. In the last five years,
Iraq, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Africa have become part of our
international market. K&A provides engineering and architecture consultancy services
that go beyond borders. Our expansion ensures we offer local insight coupled with high
international standards.
Growth of Expertise
From just architecture to a full-fledged multidisciplinary consultancy firm, K&A's expertise
has grown. Over the years we have built on in-deep technical know-how to become a leading
consultant in architecture and engineering services; urban and regional planning; water and
environmental engineering; transportation and traffic; industrial; power and electrical
utilities; telecommunication; construction and project management; and Geographic
Information Systems solutions. And the evolution of our expertise hasn't stopped. We are
committed to developing our in-house expertise to address your changing needs and those
of the community at large.

KHATIB & ALAMI - HISTORY

2
HISTORY

Always at the Forefront of Technology

Since the introduction of a complete computer center in 1979, K&A’s dedication to the
latest technology has been clear. In 1988 K&A became a pioneer at the cutting-edge of
technology with the introduction of the Geographic Information Systems technology (GIS)
to the Middle East. 2009 saw other notable achievements including the installation of a
corporate data center in Frankfurt (Germany) through which all applications and services
are securely published and accessed worldwide. As new technology emerges, we will
embrace the most effective, relevant and beneficial to ensure better services and results.

Moving up the ranks of the "Top 100 ENR International Design Firms"
Since 1984, K&A has been recognized for its excellence by being continuously ranked
among the top 100 international design firms in Engineering News Record (ENR), a respected
reference in the field. Over the last five years, we have joined the top 50 international
architecture and engineering firms.

At a very early stage, Khatib & Alami recognized the tremendous potential
of the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and thus made a
commitment to promote, support and implement this technology in the
areas and fields of our operation. A pioneer in the region, K&A started
offering GIS services in 1988 in association with the Environmental
