Barangay Piaz is located 4-6 km from the town of Villasis. It was originally a sitio called Piaz in 1875, named after the many pias trees that grew there, including one with an extremely large trunk that took three men to surround. Generations since have maintained the name Piaz when registering it with the government. Barangay Piaz is now home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and hundreds of farmers who grow crops like eggplant, corn, and string beans for export not just within the province but around Luzon as well. HISTORY OF BARANGAY PIAZ

Barangay Piaz is located in the Northern part of Villasis. Its approximate distance from

the town proper of this municipality is 4 to 6 kms. It was a former sitio during the Spanish

regime, that its name was derived from a group of pias trees which germinated particularly at

the midst of this sitio. That one of them was so gigantic and its trunk was very huge that even

three men that held hands together to surround its trunk were not yet sufficient.

Upon the discretion of the leader of this sitio on that time, he decided that the

convenient name is Piaz and that was late in the year 1875.

Now, the following generations that learned the full story of this barangay decree

maintained its given name until it was registered to the government.
