Let’s Analyze
Activity 1. Please click the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW3JuoVRSHg and watch the video
about the evolution of music. After you watch the video, answer the following questions.
    1. Describe the characteristics of classical music.
       - Emphasis on beauty, elegance and balance. More variety and contrast within a piece than
Baroque (dynamics, instruments, pitch, tempo, key, mood and timbre). Melodies tend to be
shorter than those in baroque, with clear-cut phrases, and clearly marked cadences.
    2. Describe the characteristics of modern music.
       - Modern composers have taken a closer look at rhythm, instrumentation, tone color, form,
performance techniques. Harmony and melody are no longer the sole basis of musical
structure. Increased use of percussion, and use of standard instruments in non-standard
ways were important developments in this era.
    3. Which do you prefer, classical music or the modern one? Explain your answer.
       - Modern because modern technology has enabled all aspects of the music composition and
recording processes to be of far higher quality than previous methods. We have become less
ignorant about what constitutes truly good music as a result of technological advancements.
