Student Profile – B.E in Automobile Engineering with 6.

91 CGPA, 1 mini project

during college, 1 internship, currently in final year of BE, planning to do MS in
Automobile Engineering

During my childhood days, I was very passionate about bikes & cars. My dad used to have a
car and I always pondered how it worked. I did my schooling at XXXXX School, one of the
most reputed schools in XXXX where I was a member of a Machines club. My teachers
encouraged me to participate in a Science Expo in order to gain a practical insight of the
concepts that I learnt. Therefore, I was involved with a project and designed a small motor
car based on the concepts that I learnt in Mechanics.

I have always had a penchant for machines and the technology behind it & the passion to
know how machines work & their design kept me interested to explore more in the same
field. I knew automobile engineering was my calling at a very early stage in my life. With
this very mind-set, which I incorporated with strong curiosity in the field of automobile
engineering inspired me to pursue bachelor’s degree in automobile engineering at XXXXX. I
got me engaged more into practical knowledge and started exploring new things. My interests
further grew when I got hands on experience with diesel engine performance during the
Thermal Engineering Lab sessions. My subjects of interest include Heat and Mass Transfer,
Gas Dynamics and Jet Propulsion, Kinematics of Machinery and Automobile Engineering.
As a part of my curriculum I also learnt software packages like SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS and
obtained international certification in AUTOCAD & CATIA. This comprehensive syllabus
along with practical exposure which included real time experience via industrial visits further
fueled my interest. I found the aspects of Automobile Engineering very interesting and
focused on learning more about it beyond my engineering syllabus at college.

The hankering to narrow the gap between my theoretical understanding and its practical
implementation helped me when I participated in the SAE Competition. It comprised of
designing and manufacturing a fully functional race car. I was entirely responsible for the
technical aspects of assembly of the car as well as formulating and optimizing the cost report.
The whole experience of seeing machines of all sizes doing work of various magnitudes
along with how different systems came together to achieve a single objective, was very
enriching.
My junior year project was on "XXXXX". The project …. (Project description here).
Presented this research project in National Level Technical symposium and was selected as
the best project.

My academic experience reached its pinnacle when I got an opportunity to intern at XXXXX.
During the initial days, I was assigned to a training station in the assembly department. The
proceeding weeks I was focused on metalworking. The remaining weeks taught me the basic
skills: milling, lathing and welding. I was mesmerized by the setup, the first time I got to
work with it. As I found myself engrossed in it, I realized the mammoth magnitude of multi-
dimensional activities happening in Industries. This knowledge coupled with new concepts
and skills which I gathered from these experiences aided me to decide on gaining deeper
knowledge. I observed that automobile engineering and its planning requires efficient and
sound approach other than applying astuteness and capacities. It turned more interesting in
certain aspects which triggered my interest to associate myself with automobile Engineering.
Given my responsibilities, my academic interest and skills increased tremendously & I
realized the gap between what I know and what I want to know which reasserted the passion
to pursue Masters in the one area that continues to fascinate me.

I am aware that MS in Automobile Engineering program at XXXX University offers the best
possible combination of theory & practical courses and the campus’ location in one of the
strongest automobile engineering regions in the world would help me to effectively learn,
work and network in the profession. I feel that this course will help me to learn the intricacies
of visioning & planning, which in turn will not only hone my skills but also provide me the
push towards what I am working on. Additionally, my need for high technical skills and
exposure to a highly advanced laboratory infrastructure compels me to seek an opportunity to
study at your renowned University. I believe that my academic exposure and professional
experiences so far would make me the best fit for the program, and I would be honored if
granted admission.
