BeChukotai:
In My Statutes.
Lev. 26: 3 – 27:34.
I. This Torah portion is intriguing as Father qualifies what is
necessary to receive His blessings, thus exploding the fallacy of
our understanding of GRACE in today’s church, which teaches
‘free unmerited favor’. Conversely, Father reveals that His favor
comes from:
If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
This is in keeping with the law of first reference where grace is initially seen in
Gen. 6. Noah receives grace because of walking in the above condition and not
contaminating himself or his family, with the Fallen Ones.
Let’s dissect the entire verse for additional clarity:
• If ye walk: ילך ,#3212ֵּתֵלכּו yalak, to go, to walk. It is from
#1980, halak, to walk and be conversant with. The root stem here is quite
unique: Lamed-Kaf, lach, indicating fresh, vigor, and strength. It can also
infer to moisten, be dampened. It is the root stem of #3899, לחםlechem,
meaning, bread, while the Yod, as a prefix indicates, ‘I Will’. The idea of this
word yalak is that of: If you walk in my statutes, then I will give you vigor and
strength from fresh bread and living water! Reminds me of: Is. 1:19 If ye be
willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
• In my statutes, #2708 ִאם־ְּבֻחֹּקַתי , (the hyphen connects the
words and makes them one). The Aleph-Mem, is a particle meaning if, when,
whenever, but, has the same Hebrew letters as the word for Mother - `em, one
with child. Although the primary focus is on the word im – if, we must take
into consideration the alternate meaning of `em – mother as well.
The primary word here, Chuqqah, means; a statute, ordinance. It is
spelled the same as #2707, chaqah, to cut, carve, engrave. The Hey
suffix renders the word feminine with the capacity to conceive and
reproduce. Thus, those who are “in” YHVH’s statutes will be engraved
with His Word becoming a mother, producing His Seed.
• Keep, #8104, שמרshamar, is a verb meaning to watch, to keep, to
preserve, guard, etc. Again, let’s look at the two-letter root stem, Mem-
Resh, mar, #4751, bitter, and is connected to the bitter waters of
jealousy in Numbs. 5 and the adulterous bride. The Shin attached
reveals a tooth and infers to devour. Thus, keeping the Torah will devour
bitterness!
Another way of looking at Shamar, is the Shin-Mem, Shem, meaning
name, character. The Resh appended indicates what, who is head, chief,
and also the beginning. Again, keeping Torah reveals the NAME of who
was/is the Head from the beginning – reshiyt!
• Commandments, #4687, מצוהmitzvah, commandment. The Mem
prefix means from, out of, while tzavah, #6680, צוהtsavah, means, to
appoint, direct, command. The first occurrence of the word is in Gen.
2:16 where YHVH forbids Adam & Eve to eat of the Tree of Carnal
Knowledge! This sets a precedent that connects keeping His
directives/commandments with the choice of: Getting your fresh bread
and living water from either the TREE OF LIFE OR TREE OF
DEATH!
It is no accident that this is the 10th portion of Lev. - V’yiqra (And He Called).
10 is the number of order, completion, and finality. Incidentally, there are 10
words in Lev. 26:3. The tenth chapter of Gen. deals with the genealogy of
Noah, who was the 10th from Adam! Keeping the commandments connects us
again, to Noah who received Grace because of his obedience!
Another interesting tidbit found in Lev. 26:3 is the significance of the number
of letters in the verse: 33. It is written Lamed – Gimmel, making the word
Log, a unit of measure used in cleansing lepers and in anointing the Priests.
(Lev. 14) Therefore, If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my
commandments, and do them on the 8th day you will be presented cleansed
from the leprosy of sin and anointed as the Priests of YHVH! Yahshua dies in
His 33rd year to destroy the leprosy of sin in the flesh! If you reverse the letters
making Gimmel-Lamed, gal, you have a heap of stones as a witness of
Covenant. You are a witness heap – let the stones cry out!
Let’s continue dissecting the verse…
• Do Them, #6213, ` עשהasah, to accomplish, make, fashion. A
unique word play is not lost on us – if we look at the Hebrew language:
The guttural letters Ayin & Aleph can be used interchangeably. If you
replace the Ayin with the Aleph you have #802, ' אשהishshah, wife!
Keeping & Doing the commandments of YHVH forms THE WIFE!
Remember Gen. 2: 22, where YHVH makes the woman/wife from the
RIB, צלעtsela`, of Adam? Adam was the proto-type of the ARK, the
container of the 10 commandments/Torah, he walks them out and as he
is obedient, YHVH takes from him and forms an extension, wing, side
chamber of him, and calls her Ishshah! Just like the Tabernacle. The
Rabbis teach this was the 5th rib located nearest the loins. Remember
Jacob who wrestles with YHVH (Gen. 32: 24 – 32) face to face, calling
the place Peniel [Face of El] a term of sexual intimacy. He is touched in
his thigh/loins and his name changed to Israel, forming the BRIDE!
If you take the numerical value of both words Asah (Ayin-70, Shin-300, Hey-5
=375) and Ishshah (Aleph-1, Shin-300, Hey-5 =306) subtract the lesser 375-306
= 69. This is the gematria of #1918, the word for myrtle tree, whose branches
are used to construct the TABERNACLE BOOTHS AT SUKKOT - adding
the Hey making it feminine gives Hadassah – Esther, the picture of Israel
going through a ritual purging and being revealed presented to her husband
the King [just like Eve].
The nuances of the Hebrew language convey a broader, more profound, and a
more intimate picture of what is promised to Israel for their obedience to
Torah! It is in fact a promise requiring their fidelity in marriage!
No wonder the Rabbis teach that contained in verse Lev. 26:3 is the crux of
the whole Torah!
Promise of Blessing!
II. The following verses summarize the promises of YHVH for that
faithfulness:
Rain, fruitfulness of the land, satisfaction and safety, and peace, victory in
battle, fruitfulness of the people, respect from YHVH and His tabernacle
dwelling in our midst!
It is rather interesting to note that the previous Torah portion ended with: Ye
shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I [am] the LORD.
We cannot separate the Sabbath from the rest of the commandments. Sabbath
keeping drives evil from the land and the sword of war as well! Lev. 26:6
YHVH declares, “and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall
the sword go through your land.” *Note the word for rid:
• Rid, #7673, שבתshabath, cease, desist, to remove, to exterminate,
destroy – also, to REST! The Sabbath becomes a source of destruction
to those who do not observe it. If you break the word apart and look at
both the blessing and curse side of the word, Beit-Tav, means daughter,
maiden, young woman, and can infer metaphorically, the wife. The Shin
represents El Shaddai, thus, Sabbath is the picture of the young,
virtuous wife of El Shaddai. The opposite side, pictures the Shin as a
tooth that consumes, destroys. Thus, those who do not honor the
Sabbath will find it consumes and destroys that same bride!
We next look at the curse side where we see the above emphasized. Lev. 26:24
Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven
times for your sins.
The word for seven above: #7651, שבעsheba`, seven and Shabbat, have the
same root word, #7650, shaba, to swear, adjure. Again, we see how whether
we honor the Sabbath or not, determines the length of our punishment. Israel
had their judgment 390 years – sevened =2730 years!
It is no accident that Solomon’s [Shalom] most well known wife (1Kings 10)
was also the Queen of Sheba. Solomon is a type of Messiah who will reign with
the Queen of the Sabbath during the Millenial Kingdom.
Temple values.
III. The chapter closes with instructions on placing a value on people
who give themselves to the Temple Service. Values are based upon
age and male and female as follows:
Males: 20 – 60 = 50 shekels, Females, 30 shekels
Males: 5 – 20 = 20 shekels, Females, 10 shekels
Males: 1mth. – 5 = 5 shekels, Females, 3 shekels
Males: 60 + = 15 shekels, Females, 10 shekels.
The total for all age groups of Males = 90 shekels, Females = 53. What do
these numbers tell us?
90 is the gematria of the Hebrew letter Tzaddi, meaning righteous. It is also
the gematria of the word Meleck, King.
53 is the gematria of the word Aholiab, which means, “My Tabernacle in
Her”. Thus, the values assigned to those who give themselves to the Torah and
service of the Temple infers, THE RIGHTEOUS KING WILL MAKE HIS
TABERNACLE IN HER!
For those who had no ability to pay the value assigned was not calculated.
Yahshua was valued by those who betrayed Him at 30 pieces of silver (Zech.
11:13) the price of a slave girl, who had been accidentally killed. Yahshua was
intentionally murdered in order to redeem those of us who were sold as slaves
and killed by sin in Gen. 3. He in turn gave us life! Jn. 10:10.
