Cavatina is a classical guitar piece composed
by Stanley Myers. The piece was originally
written for piano, but guitarist John Williams
asked Myers to rewrite and expand it to
classical guitar. It became a hit as the main
theme for Michael Cimino’s The Deer Hunter
1978 movie.
I wanted to learn this piece but I could not
find the sheet music for it, so I took it by ear
and transcribed it myself in March, 2010, in a
hotel room. This is the transcription you have
in your hands. Some parts are slightly
different from the original, reflecting the way
I play it.
I hope it can be useful to you.
Enjoy.
