    1. Write two common ideas among your classmate about the aforementioned.
a. A male teenager:
They commonly hooked up in their own interest today. It’s either in online games, vices, cars and so on. Their
interest usually distract them in focusing in their dreams and goals in life which they must pay attention to.
b. A religious person:
They usually teach and educate everyone about our Creator. They help us to grown in faith that all of us must need
to become mature spiritually. They help us to know more about the Lord particularly His goodness upon us.
c. An artist:
They are usually considered as an influencer because their role is to entertain people which sometimes led
us to imitate and idolize them. They help us to be entertain that sometimes help us to relax more. Without them, we
might feel boredom in some ways.
d. A mother:
The role of a mother is not something that can be described by a simple sentence. It is not a concrete
definition either, because the role of a mother is constantly evolving. Mothers have a way of stepping in and
standing up when we cannot get ourselves off the ground. A mother is brave, smart, loving, and concerned.
e. A student in your course:
As a student, we see everyone of us chasing our dreams until we become what we want in the future. We
are full of dreams that helps us to go in spite all challenges and battles in life. We are experiencing hardship but ill
fighting and surviving every day.
2. Write one different idea from your classmate about the aforementioned characters:
a. A male teenager:
A male teenager can be working double time to earn money for their tuition fee because they have no
source of income this pandemic. He strive to do his best to keep studying.
b. A religious person:

A religious person go to church everyday as a routine. But, still gossip about the rumors he/she heard on the
store. He/she even made it even worse by telling it to well-known gossiper in their community.
C. An artist:
Artist can be the most influential at all times. But behind the camera, they are the one who doesn’t have the
good characteristics at all. They might be good in front of the camera but we don’t know what’s behind it.
d. A mother:
A mother sometimes didn’t understand their children. The fact that they were the one supposed to be there
when no one else is there doesn’t happened at all times. Sometimes, they almost give the child a trauma for forcing
it to follow what they want.
e. A student in your course:
My student at my course can be sometimes just studying without learning. They just want to passed and
comply to the activities given without learning anything from the teachers.
3. Where did you get the stereotypical expectation in behavior, attitude, and appearance of each character?
a. A male teenager:
b. A religious person:
C. An artist:
d. A mother:
e. A student in your course:
For me, I can find stereotyping in so-called social categorization that comes from society. Social
categorization is the natural cognitive process by which we place individuals into social groups. When we think of
someone as a man, an old person, a black person, and so on, we are engaging in social categorization. We
categorize people according to their social group memberships in the same way that we categorize objects. When
we do this, we start to respond to those people as members of a social group rather than as individuals. One
problem is that social categorization distorts our perceptions such that we tend to exaggerate the differences
between people from different social groups while at the same time perceiving members of groups (and particularly
outgroups) as more similar to each other than they actually are. This overgeneralization makes it more likely that
we will think about and treat all members of a group the same way. Indeed, Our stereotypes influence not only our
judgments of others but also our beliefs about ourselves, and even our own performance on important tasks. In
some cases, these beliefs may be positive, and they have the effect of making us feel more confident and thus better

able to perform tasks. On the other hand, sometimes these beliefs are negative, and they create negative self-
fulfilling prophecies such that we perform more poorly just because of our knowledge about the stereotypes.
4. What would you feel if someone does not fit your common ideas about one of the characters (i.e., a male
teenager who does not have a vice, a religious person who cannot preach, an artist who wears formal attire,
a male fulfilling the roles of a mother, a student of your course that does not have the same equipment as the
rest. Note: these are sample stereotypes for discussion purposes)?
For me, it is alright to have different ideas from other people. It’s normal, there’s nothing wrong having
uncommon ideas. I keep in my mind that letting others influence your plans and thought process with their ideas
isn’t something that happens all at once.  One way to begin is to identify one specific decision or project on which
you will seek and consider some outside opinions.  As you do, be aware of your natural defenses and give some
thought as to how you will respond. Also Listening to others or reading about the opinions of others can be
valuable tool, aiding in your research, adding to your knowledge, and enriching your life and performance. At the
end, respecting the views and opinions of others is a vital life skill. Realize that their opinions have been formed by
their experiences different than your own. Never tell someone that he or she is wrong. Taking the time to listen to
and understand others’ ideas is not only a desirable character trait that reflects positively on you, but it also enables
you to learn new things and expands your capacity to think creatively. What’s important to realize is that whatever
your natural tendency may be, it is possible to learn to appreciate the ideas of others. When you do, you’ll find that
your ability to envision and implement new ideas will flourish and you’ll build stronger relationships in the
process.
5. If you are to change one of the typical perceptions or impressions of the characters, what would it be and
what change would you like to introduce? Explain. Cite just one.
If I am to change one of the typical perceptions or impressions of the characters, I would probably change
the male teenager today. Most commonly, male teenagers seen today doing bad stuffs and soon. Loud, obnoxious,
rebellious, out of control, and up to no good, these are just a few of a wide number of stereotypes that are attributed
to male teens. They are most likely be impressed having bad characteristics today. Male teenagers can be very
strong, powerful activists and problem solvers. However, constantly putting them down for not having anything
worthwhile to say is a loss to society. These stereotypes did not rest well with many teenagers throughout the
country. Male teenagers can also suffer the consequences of being stereotyped. One of those is unwell mental
health. Mental health has been known to affects one’s physical and emotional wellbeing. When someone believes
something to be true, they will change to accommodate it. This process may not necessarily be an intentional
transition but it occurs subconsciously nonetheless. This is what happens when teens begin to believe the

stereotypes being imposed on them. This leads to a lower self esteem and can lead to the development of things
like anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. These have become very prominent in our present day society.
I would like to change it into a better one. We must create a better world for the teens today, in general.
Imagine them being stereotype in general for the things they are innocent to. I’m sure you don’t also like that way
it is. We must create a better world for each of them. All of them are not the same. There are also male teenagers
who do good things as they are supposed to. If I were to change what other people impression to the male
teenagers, I would introduce them as hardworking and diligent. Not all men teenagers are loud and all of us must
remember that. I’m sure if they only had a chance to defend themselves in our mind, they would. Always find time
to create a better world for the people around us.
