0 Introduction to Dessert Paradise Society

In support of the deputy minister of higher education, looking for intrapreneurs to invent and
design new ideas to bring profits to their organization, University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)
has decided to be the first university to host “Intrapreneurship Week” competition among all
clubs and societies for one week in December 2020. So, the Dessert Paradise Club will be
organizing the “Intrapreneurship Week” competition from 18th December 2020 to 25th of
December 2020. Dessert Paradise Club was significant that the founder was a group of
youngsters, and established in 2010. The chairperson of the club is Tan Shi Yi. The competition
will be based on Christmas theme. The aim of the competition is to discover talents from the
participants and gain more innovative skills while working in an organization. This competition
is located at the Heritage Hall of UTAR.

To achieve our goal of collecting a RM15,000 for the “Intrapreneurship Week” , the
Dessert Paradise club will also be doing a small business beside the competition. We will be
selling some delicious dessert such as cookies, cakes, sweets and others. We are sure that
everyone loves to eat dessert especially for girls, but the problem that we found is that we rarely
can find dessert that is sell in the campus. If they wish to eat some delicious dessert, they have to
go to the place that is quite far from their place. Besides that, everyone will have a better mood
after having some sweet and delicacy dessert, and they will forgot about everything bad that
happened on that day.

After a survey that we have done about the price of every dessert store, we found out that
it is quite expensive for a student. If the students wish to have some dessert so badly, they have
to spend so much money on it, and will cause their pocket money to decrease. Thus, we have
consider that the cost of our dessert will be cheaper than the market price and affordable for
them, so they can enjoy the dessert.

Lim Yee Chin, Cheoh Wen Hui, Goh Jenny, Chan Xin Yu and Ooi Wye Xen. We have went to
other schools before to learn about how did they make the dessert and what type of dessert that
they have made. Sometimes we will also visit some dessert store to find some inspiration of
some new dessert that we can do. We are also looking forward to go some other state to make
some local product of their state.

The purpose we build up this club is to let the students and teachers to taste variety kind
of dessert, which are affordable for everyone. So, they don’t have to go out of the campus to look
for some dessert. Next, we also want to unite the students from working together. When they join

out club, they will have to work to make out some dessert together. With these activities,
students will know the importance of cooperation. Although they can do a simple dessert by their
own, but they will find that it is easier and faster if they work as a team. Moreover, they will get
to know each other after they have spent some times together. This club is perfectly suit for those
students who don’t like the outdoor activities. Those students can spend their time inside this
club learning to make some dessert rather than staying at their room doing nothing.

We will provide a club T-shirt for every member. It is necessary for everyone to wear it
when you come to our activities. We wear the club T-shirt is to work as a team and we won’t

DETAILS

We are UTAR Dessert Club and we have assembled a meeting on 25 th October 2020 to analyze
the market and decide what to sell in this project. Due to our aims are to make profit and improve
the innovative skills, our club wishes to invent and design new ideas in our products. As a result,
our chairman decided to conduct a survey on 30 respondents at UTAR Kampar Campus’s area to
make sure they are interested in our products so that our event can go smoothly.

As reported by the survey outcome, most of the students prefer Block C rather than Block M and
E. Therefore, we have decided to set up our booth at Block C, Student Pavilion 1. Secondly, we
will set up our booth from 7.00pm to 11pm as people will normally consume dessert after their
dinner.

The details of our event are as follows:

 Date: 24 December 2020 to 28 December 2020
 Time: 7.00pm to 11pm
 Venue: Block C (Student Pavilion1)

1
According to the survey results, we found out that the majority of the respondents are Foundation
students and most of them are 18 years old and above. Thus, we will be mainly targeting students
as our targeted customers. Other than targeting students, we are trying to attract more people
such as lecturer, staff, or the parents around the campus with our signature products. We expect
that their demand for our products will be high as most of our products are liked by the public,
especially the youngster.

Survey on UTAR Kampar Campus has carried out that 22 out of 30 respondents are more partial
to ‘Xmas Chocolate Cake’ instead of Vanilla and Fruit flavour. Thus, we will let the Chocolate
cake as our signature product. Besides our signature product, we had decided to prepare three
different types of dessert and one drinks for our customers as well, which is cookies, pudding,
tart, and smoothie. According to the survey results, we have decided to make chocolate chip
flavour for cookies, mango for pudding, and smoothie and also cheese for the tart. Concerned
about the purchasing power of students, we will try to price our products in a reasonable and
affordable price.

The products are as follows:

To be the winning team in this event, our club is trying to find the best ingredients and recipe in
making the dessert. Besides finding, we also do some research on renowned brands like Secret
Recipe, Baskin Robbin, and Hokkaido to find out what is the secret for them to do such delicious
dessert. During the event, we will prepare an icebox to store all our fruits and dessert to keep
them fresh and frozen in a controlled environment.

Due to the Christmas week, we have decided to name our project ‘Santa’s Gift’, which will let
UTAR surrounded by the Christmas spirit. Besides that, our club members will be wearing
costumes like Santa Claus, elk, and dwarf to cater for the Christmas theme and attract the
students to our booth. In order to draw attention from the students and lecturers, our club has
offered some package such as:

training our members in serving the customers and their collaboration when doing their job. We
hope that we can achieve the goals and attract more students to join our club.

6.0 Promotion

According to the survey distribute by us, the first type of method to promote our club (Dessert
Paradise society) is promote dessert through Instagram. Instagram gets the highest percentage
compare to Facebook and others social media platform. The survey result shows that majority of
people prefer promotion on Instagram. It is because now days, Instagram can be say is one of the
most popular social media platform in the world wide and it is also known by people all around
the world. It is a free, simple and online photo sharing application and social media platform.
Therefore, it is a good platform for us to carry out advertising and promotion of our dessert
products. Interestingly, even people who “don’t like sweets” love pretty pictures of pies, cakes,
or plated desserts. Dessert pictures are seemingly as trend-proof as the sweet stuff itself, and rate
among the most “liked” and shared photos out there. For example, we can share photos of dessert
every once in a while to promote our new dessert. We can also promote our dessert through
Instagram stories. Moreover, using hashtags. Hashtags are helpful in letting you connect with
people who might be interested in the content you are posting. With these method, we can attract
more students to buy our dessert .

Besides, the second type of promotion method is using Facebook. Although there is the
invention of Instagram, Facebook is still the biggest social media site. So, we can share and
promote our desserts by creating a great homepage and profile page. The profile image is a very
important factor for our business. It should be memorable in the mind of your customers
browsing on Facebook and it should reflect our business in a positive light. For instance, we can
invite Utar students to join our Facebook dessert group to enjoy special promotion. For people
who buy our products in the group, our club will give away a special gift from time to time. It is
a good way to attract dessert customer.

Furthermore, the third type of promotion method carry by us is through poster. This is because
posters allow us to spread our product details directly to a wide audience in one glance. It is far
cheaper than radio, print or television advertising in a simple, easy and affordable way. By using
poster to promote, it can attract more customer to know our promotion.

In addition, another promotion method is promote dessert in package. Our society sell dessert
in package such as (cake + smoothie) just for Rm 11.This dessert promotion package is much
cheaper, and adorable for Utar students.
