this Bebe Ladybug!
 Remarks
This project is working in continuous rounds, do not join or turn unless
otherwise stated.
Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning
of each round. Move the marker up every round.
All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the
pattern.
For the dots:
This project is worked in the round. Join your first round with a slip stitch.
If you want your rounds to be perfectly even, you will need to join the
beginning and end of each round with a slip stitch.
Here is how: Crochet around your ring as usual. After you crochet your
last stitch, slide your hook into the first stitch in that round and slip stitch.
Ch1 and sc (or 2sc) into that join for the beginning or the new round.
This will connect the round, making it look seamless.
 Materials
This pattern can be made using any yarn you wish. Choose a hook size
that matches the yarn. If you want to increase or decrease the size of the
baby, use the correct yarn type for your hook.
It is important to make tight stitches. For a nice and satisfactory result
make sure you use a smaller hook than usually recommended for your
yarn. This way you will get a fabric tight enough to avoid small stretching
gaps between your stitches once stuffed, and so the filling doesn’t pop
out later.
For stuffing, they are many sorts of stuffing materials and the choice is
yours. For best results I recommend stuffing your project firmly, don’t
hesitate to overstuff as long as the yarn you are using allows it.
You can use:
 ▪ Bernat Super Value in red, black and dark heather.
 ▪ Size 3.50 mm hook
 ▪ Stuffing
 ▪ Tapestry needle
 ▪ Stitch marker
 ▪ 10 mm black safety eyes
 ▪ Pink cotton thread for the cheeks
The height of bebe ladybug is 19 cm (7’5 inches) in the sitting position

 Basic technique
Magic Ring : starting a piece with adjustable loop.
A magic ring is a way to begin crocheting in the round by crocheting over
and adjustable loop and then pulling the loop tight. The advantage of the
magic ring method is that there is no hole left in the middle of your
starting round.
Special Stiches:
Popcorn stitch (for the finger):
1. Work 3 dc stitches in the same stitch.
2. Drop the loop from your hook.
3. Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first
double crochet of the group.
4. Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.
Puff stitch (for the nose):
Make 3 hdc, keeping the last loop of each stitch on the hook. Then slip
stitch into the 4 loops on the hook.
Picot stitch:
1 ch, sl st back into the loop and the upper part of the previous st.
