Q1) What did Hanuman see when he was
finding Devi Sita?
A1) As Hanuman looked around he realised that there
were many kinds of rakshasas who lived in Lanka-
handsome, ugly, good and evil, pleasent and bad
tempered . He saw people were chanting mantras and
saying their prayers. There were also people who
looked evil and cruel. Rakshasas guards carrying
weapons were all over the city. He heard music and
saw beautiful women singing and playing musical
instruments. He realised that all the rakshasas were
not evil like Ravan and Surpnakha and he hoped some
of them had been kind to Sita.
Q2) What did Ravan said to Sita when she
awoke and sat up?
A2) Ravan smiled at her and tried to flatter her. “O
beautiful lady, I have come to invite you to my Palace
once again. Come and become my queen I will get you
the finest wealth in the world boxes full of cell
garments and you will live in a luxury in your own
Palace, with maids to do your binding. You will be the
of queen of Ravan, the king of Lanka. Why do you keep
waiting for your husband ram? Do you think he has the
courage to come and fight me? A man who lives in hut
in a forest. Does he has the courage to fight the
mightiest king in the whole world? HA! Ha!” Ravan
laugh echoed through the garden and his large eyes
glittered with cruelty. “I have prayed to Lord Shiv and
Lord Bhrama and they have blessed me with many
powerful weapons that will destroy Ram and
Lakshman” .
Q3) Describe the meeting of Hanuman
and Sita ?
A3) When Hanuman saw Sita was alone he started
singing a song that described Ram . Sita ,surprised to
see him and asked about him . However ,Sita was in
doubt that it may be another trick played by Ravana .
Hanuman introduced himself as a messenger of Lord
Ram and minister of Sugreev , the king of Kishkindha.
Hanuman presented her Ram’s ring . Her eyes were
filled with joy and hope . Hanuman told her how Ram
was worried and searching for her day and night and
Ram would surely come to her rescue . Then suddenly
an idea stroke Hanuman and asked Sita to sit on her
back and they would fly back to Kish kindha . Sita said
that this would be impossible for him to fly back
carrying her and fight with Ravan in flying chariot .
Hanuman agreed and asked Sita how would Ram
believe him that he had met her . So Sita gave him her
jewel and asked Hanuman to show it to Ram .
Q4) Why was Hanuman’s tail put on to
fire?

Why was Lanka in blaze ?
A4) When Hanuman was about to leave Ashok Vatika .
He was feeling hungry so he climbed a mango tree and
started munching mangoes . the rakshasas saw him
and started throwing stones at him . Hanuman got
irritated and started throwing stones and uprooting
trees . The rakshasis asked Ravan for help . Ravan sent
his soldiers to catch hanuman but they failed . Then he
sent Jambumali ,his best warrior but his chariot was
smashed and he was killed . After that he sent his son
Aksha who was also crushed to death . There after , he
sent his son Indrajit who had gained divine weapons
from the gods. Indrajit finally aimed the Brahmastra at
Hanuman. And Hanuman was tied in magical ropes
then he was dragged before Ravan . Ravan ordered his
soldier to wrap his tail in cloth and set it to fire. Then
Hanuman’s blazing tail set fire to everything in Lanka
except Ashok Vatika where Sita sat under a tree .
Q5) How did Hanuman destroyed Ashok
Vatika?
A5)When hanuman was eating mangoes, some of
the rakshasas saw him. He had an idea to make the
rakshasas fear him. He grew big and went around the
garden, broke the railing, uprooted trees, and threw
big stones into the pond. Soon everything was into the
huge uproar, with birds flying off, deer and squirrels
running away and rakshasis running hither and thither,
not knowing what to do.
Q6) What punishment was given to
Hanuman by Ravana and what did he do?
A6) Ravan knew that vanars values their tales so he
asked to set his tail on fire. Hanuman ws dragged out
and the rakshasas began to wrap his tail in cloth and
soak it in Oil. They set his tail on fire and took him
through the streets of Lanka beating their
drums. Hanuman began to jump across from one end
of the city to another in giant leaps and bounds. His
blazing tail set fire to everything- houses, mansions,
gardens etc. till all the Lanka was on fire except Ashok
Vatika. Hanuman ran to the seashore and plunged his
tail into the sea to put out the flames.
