The Rizalista Movement has its roots in the wish to promote the ideals of Jose Protacio Mercado
y Alonzo Realonda. Rizalista are staunch supporters of the ideals set by Jose Protacio Mercado y
Alonzo Realonda. This group immortalizes and worships Jose Rizal as a divine being. Many of
these sects or religious movements believe that Rizal is still living and that he will deliver his
followers from oppression and poverty. The success of the movement is very limited due to the
general people’s lack of interest in it.
Rizalistas have contrasting perspectives on the eternality of Jose Rizal. Some accept that he is
God himself, some accept that Rizal was the second child of God, the rebirth of Christ. A portion
of these gatherings likewise distinguish Rizal as the divine force of the pre-Spanish Malay
religion. Some main see as Rizal as a profound aide. Heads of the group frequently guarantee
that vital individuals in the Philippine Revolution including Rizal himself were rebirth of the
Virgin Mary. A large number of these gatherings guarantee that the main key to salvation is by
joining their gathering
The Rizalist strict development went from colorums which were pervasive during the 1920s up
to the 1930s to Philippine Benevolent Missionary Association, which was driven by Ruben
Ecleo. Among these developments are the Iglesia Sagarada Familia, Lipi ni Rizal, Pilipinas
Watawat, the Molo and the Iglesia ng Watawat ng Lahi
I am aware that there are various kinds of religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and
Judaism, but I didn’t know that there is a religion which is worshipping Dr. Jose Rizal as their
God. Jose Rizal did have many achievements and contributions to our country. That’s why he
became our national hero but I was astonished that there are people thought that he is a God.
According to the documentary that I watched, there are so many people who believe in this kind
of religion. They said that Jose Rizal’s is a God and send by the 3 personas as a human. They
also believe that Jose Rizal’s life and Jesus Christ’s life are very similar. It was stated in the
video that both of them were born to a country governed by foreigners, became a healer and
performed miracles, were sentenced to death, died for a noble cause, and chose the peaceful way
to carry out their mission. Just like some religion they attend their mass every Sunday and
instead of Bible, they have a book which serve as a guide for them to follow. Religion is a kind
of person’s philosophy of life and it is a matter of choice that what kind of religion you want to
follow. I am a Catholic and I don’t believe in the beliefs of the Rizalista, which is Rizal is a God,
but I should respect that because as an individual we have our own freedom to choose what we
believe.
