5.5 Derricking Mechanism


Change the boom angle by telescoping the derricking cylinders so as to change the working

radius. The boom angle varies from -2 to 80. The -2 boom angle provides great
convenience for mounting the jib, changing the rope falls and repairing the parts on the boom
head. Setting a balanced valve in the hydraulic system can not only make the derricking
operation steady but also let the boom stay at any position. The derricking operation is
controlled by the right joystick

Stop in neutral
Pull right to lower the boom

Pull left to raise the boom

The derricking speed of main boom can be adjusted by the accelerator pedal and the joystick.
Depress the accelerator pedal and increase the inclination angle of the joystick, the derricking
mechanism will speed up. But it should be avoided to change the speed suddenly during
lifting so as to ensure steady operation.
An angle indicator and an angle detector are fixed on main boom. The boom angle can be
read directly from the angle indicator. The angle detector, an electronic device, can transfer
the information of boom angle to the load moment limiter and show it on the display.

WARNING:

a. The operation should be stable. Jerky operation will bring great impact to the
crane during lifting.
b. If boom is lowered during lifting, the working radius will increase, and the
crane may be liable to turn over because of overload. This situation should be
avoided carefully. The operator must strictly limit the max. working radius
according to the rated lifting capacity table.
