Pandaguan: The self-absorbed man

In the story, “Why the dead comeback no more?” Pandaguan is part of the main characters.
The first portion in the story tells that Pandaguan with his son went fishing and caught a shark.
Knowing that the shark would not die, they brought it to the shore. Because of ignorance and impulsive
decision Pandaguan did, the shark died so Pandaguan pleaded for the gods to hear him. Captan, one of
the gods during that time operate an thunderbolt that caused Pandaguan to die just for thirty days.
Pandaguan never cared for the people he left behind and that he followed the shark in the infernal regions.

At that moment Pandaguan did not think straight, that was the most irrational deliverance which
happened to an aftermath. Because of the occurrence, every single person that are significant to him, lost.
His wife Lubluban found another man because she taught that her husband died, so when Pandaguan
came back, even though for some it is a good news Pandaguan’s wife is still inconceivable. In lieu of
doing something to win his wife’s heart again he chose to get angry which is dissatisfactory. All he
considered is his own sentiment, he never allow himself to put on someone’s shoes. He never regard what
will his significant other would feel and also what will his own son would think. For the second time
around he doubtless chose to leave all he think is loaded in his back behind, instead of staying and took
care of his precious son he once again obliged to what his ego wants and that is to leave.

Pandaguan doesn’t exert so much effort to get back what is his, he just easily let go of the things
that are important in his life because of the reasoning that the things he labeled as precious to him forgot
about him when he temporarily died. His heart turned into stone and it coated with anger for his beloved
wife that led him to ignore his only son’s feelings.
He once became a loving and caring father and a good husband to his family, he is contented in
what they have and be happy with it. But things changed, some things happened, and inconsequent
decision are made. Pandaguan is indeed an self-absorbed man for not doing anything to get back what is
his property or not fighting for what is his, for only thinking about himself, for making big decision all by
himself that could brought big circumstances for his family. Because of some twist of fate, the peaceful
life of Pandaguan has been ruined and breaks into pieces that he cannot fix anymore because he chose to
just die and not use the second chance, Captan gave to him to do his best to bring back what havoc he
made to his family.
