MY OBSERVATION
Title

NARRATION:
So last November 22,2021. We had an observation in Grade 7 Jacinto under Ma’am
Tapal with her student-teacher, Sir Melvin. Before the class proceed to the discussion-proper,
Ma’am Tapal initiated the preliminaries; checking of attendance, and energizer. After that, the
student-teacher took charge of the class, by having recap and later on, he begins to discuss
about Aerobic Muscle- and Bone-Strengthening Activities: Individual Sports. As per observation,
some students are interactive, and some are not because they seemed to have other
businesses in the duration of their class. During the discussion, the student-teacher seemed to
have knowledge of the subject matter. He discussed about the different equipment’s and safety
protocol of swimming for student’s awareness. Later on, he proceeds to the next topic which is
rhythmic gymnastics, he begins the discussion for that particular subtopic by giving definitions
and present some video performance for students’ reference.
I observed that the student-teacher keeps stammering. In addition, the teacher posed
some questions to check students background knowledge of the particular topic. Gladly, even
though he stammers, he made a comprehensive discussion and contextualize the important
ideas.

During the discussion-proper

REFLECTION:

The class observation is an opportunity for me to cope with the teaching styles to be
adapt especially in the new normal where we have limited movements. It is really challenging for
the teachers to demonstrate the knowledge due to the limited movements. I must say, teaching
is never easy given the situation, especially when you are a P.E teacher. At this moment, I am
worried on how will I execute my knowledge in my future practice teaching. Thankfully, we have
given an opportunity to generate ideas on what to do in the future. In addition, I observed that
theoretical learning is not enough to impart knowledge. With that, a teacher must be creative
enough to deliver the lesson. We must keep exploring to give the knowledge that the students
deserved.
Furthermore, I admire the student-teacher on how he deals with the situation. Most
especially, students were not that attentive yet he managed to proceed the class orderly. Aside
from that, it is challenging for teacher to deal with its surroundings because we might encounter
unwanted noises or anything that distracts us from teaching. Hence, I reflected that I must have
alternative ways in dealing the situation. As of the discussion-proper, I must keep in mind that
every student we have to apply creativity so that students will be able to absorb the knowledge
intended to them. I would use a different method and incorporate some interactive approach to
learning to accommodate all students’ learning preferences. Furthermore, I would like to have
an engaging class and give learning resources/materials that are appropriate for the topic
matter and student group. I'd also look into other innovative ways to use the technology. I know
it could be challenging, but despite the challenges I will embrace it all because it will lead us to
be a good teacher in the future.
