Ethanolamine Oleate: Varicose Vein Treatment

Ethanolamine oleate is a sclerosing agent composed of 5% ethanolamine oleate. It works by irritating the venous walls and forming blood clots to occlude veins, resulting in fibrous tissue development and vein obliteration. It is indicated for acute variceal bleeding, preventing recurrent variceal bleeding, and small uncomplicated varicose veins, with dosing of 2-5 ml injected into veins in portions at weekly intervals until varices are occluded. It is presented in 5 ml ampoules.
