Brigada Through the Years

Throughout the years, the Department of Education has devoted itself into coming up with ways
in the pursuit of quality and effective basic education every Filipino student deserves, considering
holistic health at the forefront of its priorities.

Launched in 2003, Brigada Eskwela has been an active agent in improving public school facilities
and promoting “Bayanihan Spirit” among stakeholders.

As schools imbibe various themes reiterating the importance of everybody’s contribution in this
meaningful campaign, stakeholders’ involvement through donations and acts of volunteerism
continually intensifies. Parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations,
teachers, and students, alike, work hand in hand in painting and cleaning classrooms, maintaining
learning tools, and landscaping in preparation for the school year ahead.

Brigada in the New Normal

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Brigada Eskwela as well as Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE)
reconfigures annual activities under the joint theme: “Pagpapanatili ng Bayanihan Tungo sa Kalidad na
Edukasyon para sa Kabataan”.

In transitioning to what is now known as the “New Normal”, Brigada Eskwela deviates from the
traditional concept of repainting, cleaning, and maintenance into strengthening its partnerships with its
stakeholders through the provision of;

-Thermal Scanners

-Sanitizing Equipment and Materials

-Hygiene Information Materials on health protocols

With this also comes with the strengthening of DepEd’s pre-existing program on “Gulayan sa
Tahanan” (Perviously “Gulayan sa Paaralan) which promotes small-scale food production within the
comforts of their homes as a fun alternative activity during the lockdown/quarantine.

All of these selfless efforts are to ensure quality basic education despite the challenges posed by
COVID-19.

Surely, no pandemic could stop the teachers, families, community partners and stakeholders of
the Division of Bacolod City who are all equipped with ignited spirit of resilience and bayanihan.

So put your face masks on, kag dali na! Mag binuligay kita!

Buligan, Amligan, Tudluan, Alalayan ang Atun mga Kabataan.

Because here in the DepEd Bacolod, we will deliver.
