Personalizing Kinetic Home Page

You can add, resize and group widgets to create a Home Page that reflects your typical
use of the Epicor ERP application.

In this article, we will cover:

• Adding widgets
• Rearranging and resizing widgets
• Promoting and demoting widgets

Adding Widgets
Each widget is a specific type which defines what shortcut icons and features it
contains. You can add the following widgets: App Link, BAQ Grid, Discovery Chart
View, Discovery Dashboard, Discovery KPI View, Image, Local Application or
Document, Text Label, Updatable Grid, Web Application, and Website.

App Link
Use the App Link widget to add Epicor Forms found on the main menu to your home
page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select App Link.


3. In the Add an App Link Widget window, start typing in the App field to select
the form you want to add to your home page.

4. Select the Always use current company and site check box if you want to add
the widget to the current company and site.

BAQ Grid
The BAQ Grid type to display Business Activity Query results within a Home Page
widget. When you attach a BAQ to a widget, you can select to periodically refresh the
BAQ results to make sure you work with the latest database output.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit


2. In the Add Widget panel, select BAQ Grid.

3. From the BAQ drop-down list, select a Business Activity Query. Change
the Title if necessary.

4. Use the Show Filter Row option to work with a subset of data in a row. You
specify the column data you want to see; when you apply the filter, data that
does not meet the criteria you specified does not display within the row.
5. Use the Show Group functionality that groups all of the records in a grid by a
specific column
6. From the Display Columns list, select the columns you want to include in the
query.
Collaborate
Use the Collaborate widget to embed an Collaborate stream and group chats to your
home page.

1. In the Kinetic Home Page, from the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Collaborate to add the Collaborate widget to
your home page.

3. To view your stream in the widget, keep the My Stream check box selected.

To display a certain group in the widget, clear the My Stream check box, and
from the Collaborate Group drop-down, select a Collaborate group.
4. In the Add Widget panel, select Save.

5. (Optional) To promote the widget to a new home tab, switch to the edit mode
and on the widget title bar, select Promote.

Discovery Chart View


Use the Discovery Chart View widget to add Data Discovery Views to your home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.


2. In the Add Widget panel, select Discovery Chart.

3. From the Data Discovery View drop-down list, select a view

4. Select OK.

Here is the Data Discovery Chart widget.

Discovery Card
You can add Discovery cards to your home page that show how effectively your
company is achieving key business objectives.
1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.
2. In the Add Widget panel, select Discovery Card

3. Start typing in the Data Discovery View to find and select a view

4. Select OK

This is your Discovery card.

Discovery IoT Widget


Use the Discovery IoT Widget to view the current status of the IoT (Internet of Things)
Devices. Epicor ERP offers a centralized IoT platform for production-related data,
which enables you to review and monitor site equipment using fully configurable KPIs.
You can see at a glance for example areas of the site with most downtime or lowest
utilization. This way issues can be actioned on before they lead to production
efficiency degradation.
For more information about the IoT functionality, refer to the IoT Management section
in the application help.
Adding Discovery IoT Widgets
Use the following steps to add an IoT widget to you home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Discovery IoT.

3. In the Add Discovery IoT Widget dialog, select the widget you want to add to
your home page
4. Select OK.

This is your IoT widget.

Creating New Discovery IoT Widgets


Along with displaying the existing IoT widget you configure in Data Discovery, you can
create a new IoT widget right from the home page.

1. In the Add Discovery IoT Widget dialog, select the + icon you want to add to
your home page.

2. In the Create a Data Discovery IoT Widget window, define the properties of
the widget.

3. Start typing in the Device field to find and select the IoT Device.

4. Enter the Title for your device.


5. From the Device Property drop-down list, select the property of the device. For
example, humidity, temperature, etc.

6. Use the Goal Type field to define the goal values for your device.

Example: You have a sensor (IoT Device) installed in a data center room that
controls the ambient relative humidity levels between 45% and 55%,
recommended for optimal performance and reliability. You can set up the
device to display visual alerts on the IoT Widgets when humidity level exceeds
the specified parameters.

The following goal types are available:

• Smaller Values are Better - Use to specify the upper limit. In this example,
the IoT widget will display alerts when the upper limit of the 60% humidity is
exceeded, ignoring the humidity values below 55%.

• Larger Values are Better - Use to specify the lower limit. In this example,
the IoT widget will display alerts when the lower limit of the 40% humidity is
exceeded, ignoring the humidity values above 45%.
• Closest to Nominal - Use to specify the nominal values. For example, when
it is not too damp, not too dry in the data center room, just right.

• Exact String Values - Use to specify the exact values for the device

7. Select OK
Your widget may look similar to the following:
Adding Images to Discovery IoT Widgets
Use the following step to add a custom image to the IoT Widget. You add images in the
IoT Device Maintenance program.

1. Navigate to System Management > IoT Management > IoT Device


Maintenance program.

2. Select the Device ID... button and find and select the IoT device for which you
want to add an image.

3. From the Actions menu, select Upload Image.

4. In the confirmation message, select OK.

5. Refresh your home page.

Your image is added to the Discovery IoT widget.

Discovery Dashboards
A dashboard is a collection of several views, that enables you to compare a variety of
data simultaneously. If you have a set of views that you use daily, you can add a
dashboard to your Active Home Page that displays all the views at once, rather than
navigate to separate views.
The visualizations on a dashboard include Discovery Chart Views, Discovery Card
Views, Discovery IoT widgets and Discovery KPI Views.
Adding Discovery Dashboards

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.


2. In the Add Widget panel, select Discovery Dashboard.

3. In the Add a Data Discovery Dashboard Tab window, from the Data
Discovery Dashboard drop-down list, select a dashboard.

4. Select OK.
The dashboard displays in a new tab. Unlike other widgets, the Discovery
Dashboard always displays as a tab.

Filtering Views on Dashboards


Dashboard filters make it easy to provide different combinations of data from a single
dashboard. These dashboard filters run in addition to any filters that already exist in
the view. In this example, filter the views on the dashboard by Customer.
On the dashboard tab, in the Filters panel, expand the Customer node and select a
customer.
The application filters views to display the data for the selected customer.

Discovery KPI Widget


Data Discovery provides a unified way to set and manage all goals across your
business and keep track of performance in one place. The KPI Engine allows you
to create new KPI metrics on any dashboards or embedded everywhere Data
Discovery is available.
Add a KPI widget to your home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Discovery KPI Widget


3. Search for a BAQ

4. Select a KPI and dimension.

5. Select OK, and then save the layout.


The widget below displays a AR Receivables KPI.

Use the arrows to cycle between dimension members and time periods.
Local Application or Document
Add a local app or a document to your home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Local Application or Document.

3. When adding a program or document, enter the path of the file you want to
launch. In the following example, the link to Epicor Performance and Diagnostic
Tool executable is used. This way, you can launch the application directly by
clicking on a widget within the Home Page.
4. In the Title field, enter the program name.
5. Select OK, and then save the layout.
Here is your widget.

Select it to launch the PTD tool.

Image
To display an image on your Home Page, use the Image widget.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Image


3. Select Image to find and select the image file on your network.

The image is saved to your application database and is available for importing
and exporting with the Home Page layout

Text Label
Use the Text Label widget to display static text on the home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Text Label.


3. In the Add a Text Label window, enter the text for your widget

4. Specify the Font Size and set the text direction and position.
5. Select OK.

Web Application
Use this widget to host web applications, primarily kinetic-based applications, such as
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) forms, scheduling boards, and others.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.


2. In the Add Widget panel, select Web Application.

3. Now add a URL to your web app. In this example, we'll add a kinetic version of
the Epicor Job Scheduling Board.

You can look up URLs for kinetic apps in the URL field in the Menu
Maintenance program.
4. Select OK and save the layout.
Your web app displays.

Website
Use the website widgets to add a website you frequently use to your home page.

1. From the Overflow menu, select Edit.

2. In the Add Widget panel, select Website


3. Use the Display options to link to website or to embed a website on the home
page.

4. In the Title field, enter the name for your website.

5. Select the Send ERP Token check box to configure the Website Widget to use
authenticated visitors.

6. Select the Send ERP Context check box to send ERP Context.

7. Select OK, and then save the layout

Rearranging and Resizing Widgets


You can rearrange widgets within the Home Page by using drag and drop.

If you want to change the position of a widget within a widget group slide the widget
you want to change, and then drag it to a new position.

Resize widgets by selecting the corner of the widget, and then dragging to your
desired size.
Promoting and Demoting Widgets
Some of the widgets, such as a BAQ Grid, Discovery Chart View, Web Apps, and
Embedded Website, can also be hosted as tabs on the Kinetic Home Page. Use the
Promote button on the widget to display it as a tab. Along with promoting widgets you
can demote them. Note that when you add the Discovery Dashboard, it always
displays in a new tab.

Select the Promote button on a widget to display it in a new tab.

To demote the widget, from the Overflow menu ***, select Demote.
