VPN ACCOUNT REQUEST FORM
Form Instructions
This form is to be filled out by the Virtual Private Network (VPN) account holder.
Dates for access: For Contractors - Maximum of 3 months. For Government staffs – Maximum of 6 months.
Approver: For Contractors, the Approver 1 is the applicant’s supervisor (of the same company). The Approver 2 is the government system owner or project
manager. For Government staffs – Approver 1 is the supervisor/system owner/project manager. Approver 2 to be filled if necessary.
Submission: Email to network@egc.gov.bn. Please allow 3 working days or less for approval.

VPN User Agreement
All VPN users must read the conditions of this policy and sign the “Information Security Statement” in the VPN
Account Request Form to indicate his/her acceptance being bound to this policy.
This policy applies to all Government employees, contractors, consultants, temporaries, and other workers including
all personnel affiliated with third parties utilizing Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the EGNC network.
a) VPN access is controlled using username and password authentication. These credentials MUST NOT be shared
with anyone and shall only be used by the account holder. It is the responsibility of the remote user with VPN
privilege to ensure that unauthorized access is not allowed to the network. Non-account holder is strictly
prohibited from using the assigned user’s credential.
b) VPN access to the EGNC network and computing resources will be set up and managed only by the EGNC
authorized staffs.
c) Only the VPN client software distributed by the EGNC may be used to connect to the EGNC VPN. Installation of
the VPN client software shall be obtained from the EGNC Network Team.
d) All computers being used to VPN into the EGNC must have the computer running the most updated operating
system security patch, current anti-virus definitions, free from malware and firewall enabled.
e) Users are only allowed to access the specific device(s)/system(s) destination as stated in the VPN Account
Request Form. Unauthorised access to addresses/systems which are not part of the stipulated areas are
prohibited.
f) The VPN connection will automatically be disconnected after 20 minutes of inactivity. Pings or other artificial
network processes are not to be used to keep the connection open.
g) Dual (split) tunnelling is NOT permitted; only one network connection is allowed. When actively connected to
the corporate network, VPNs will force all traffic to and from the PC over the VPN tunnel; all other traffic will be
dropped.
h) By using the VPN, users must understand that while they are connected through VPN, their computers become
an extension of the EGNC network, and during the time they are connected, must follow the same guidelines
established for the use of EGNC owned equipment and the systems which they are connected to.
i) All network activities during a VPN session is subject to EGNC computing policies and may be monitored for
compliance.
j) The user receiving confidential information must not disclose any confidential information to any third party
without prior written consent from the disclosing party. The user will protect the confidentiality of the other’s
confidential information.
k) VPN access and user accounts can be terminated at any time, by request from the employee’s
employer/representative, or by the employees’ request, or at any time by EGNC as it sees fit.
l) All VPN users must acknowledge that any contravention of this agreement may be liable under the Computer
Misuse Act [CAP 194] and the Official Secrets Act [CAP 153] and upon conviction carries a punishment of a fine
and/or imprisonment.
m) EGNC will take action on any breach of trust or misuse, and subsequently be liable to ANY laws related to the
improper use.
